Granted Motherwell were the SPL opponent but it was basically the first outing of the season and featured nothing like the starting 11 for Hamilton which we are edging closer towards. And besides, even with nothing like the starting 11 defensive slip ups aside we played them off the park with what was basically our Championship team. I hope to see Barton start and get at least an hour as he must need it for fitness purposes alone. Crooks will be like another new signing when we get him fit. Couple of weeks away apparently and he may go a long way to negating the high ball set piece threat perhaps at both ends. SteveC 150 Posted July 25, 2016 Share Posted July 25, 2016 Looking forward to my first look in the flesh at the new side tonight, as although I seen the game on tv on Friday it is not the same as seeing it live where you can see the movement and positional sense of the players off the ball much more than you can on tv which essentially just tracks the ball. Hoping to get a good look at the new players Barton, Hill, Krancjar, Dodoo, Windass who are ready to feature. I am worried about the lack of action for Hardie, who is miles better than Mr Misser and should be getting some gametime based on his goalscoring run at Falkirk in the second half of last season. It looks like Warburton doesnt rate him. If he doesnt start tonight it must be more likely he will be loaned out again. If they ever start liking us it wont be down to us thrashing everybody which is the aim. And in fact if being the overall most obsessed about is a sort of mark of popularity we ARE in fact the most popular team in the country.
