RANGERS are today delighted to confirm the signing of attacker Joe Dodoo from English Premier League champions Leicester City on a four year deal.

The 21 year-old winger, who can also play as a central striker, has been training with the Light Blues over the last week having made his breakthrough into Claudio Ranieri’s remarkable Leicester squad in the first half of last season.

He netted a hat-trick on his debut against Bury in the Capital One Cup, and followed that up with a goal against West Ham in the same competition, meaning overall he boasts a record of four goals in the four matches he played for the Foxes’ first team.

Speaking after their game with the Hammers, Ranieri said of Dodoo: “He was fantastic. He’s very smart and he was ready to shoot at goal. Joe is good because he can smell the goal.

“When he shoots at goal he is very dangerous, and he had another chance to score. Very good.

“I’m very happy with him and excited because he’s a very attentive lad and often I speak with him about his best position, how to attack and how to defend.”

He also enjoyed a short loan spell at Bury in League One between November and January last year, netting on his debut there against Burton Albion.

Eligible to play for both Ghana and England, Dodoo has represented the Three Lions at youth level previously.

Excellent. Another piece falls into place while the opposition stumble around with seemingly no plan. Hope he gets into the team as quickly as possible to give us a look at him.

No idea. Even if he were I have doubts that the manager may throw him in so quickly when he is still trying to give others a run. Limited substitutes which is the one drawback of this league cup format as a pre-season.

JOE DODOO says he feels no pressure after signing for Rangers and that is partly down to the atmopshere he has felt in the dressing room.

The 21-year-old has only played nine first-team games but Mark Warburton has swooped on the highly rated youngster who is confident he can perform on the big stage.

Dodoo admits that in the few days he has been at Rangers he has sensed a similar spirit to that of Leicester’s title winners.

Speaking to RangersTV the striker said: “I am stepping out in front of 52,000 and that is the biggest positive you can have, they are your fans and they are here to cheer you on and support you.

“You can’t feel pressure you just have to go there and play, play your heart out, win games, score goals and then everybody will be happy.”

“I am very excited, there are great facilities, the lads are great, the manager is great, the staff are great so I just can’t wait to get started.

“I am laid back but you have to work hard and I have that work ethic so for me because of that I am really relaxed and just concentrate on my football and do what I have to do.

“I sense a similar spirit to Leicester last season here, the lads were together and here it is exactly the same, the lads are just really good friends.

“That’s got Leicester to where they were because they were a really tight group and I see the same thing here.”

Dodoo revealed he played with Martyn Waghorn as a youngster at Leicester City and he can’t wait to link up with last season’s top scorer.

The forward scored a hat-trick on his senior debut and went on to net against West Ham in last season’s League Cup.

He smiled: “I played with Martyn Waghorn at Leicester, I was only 17 then and he was older but I have known him for a while.

“It’s great to come and him be here because he knows me and it makes it easier to fit in with the lads.

“They have made it so easy for me to fit in and welcomed me from the first day so that made my decision even easier.

“Martyn and I scored a lot of goals together, we combined well and I know how he plays and that is still going to be there.”

JOE DODOO admits he could have stayed with Premier League Champions Leicester City but instead chose to make the move to Ibrox.

The 21-year-old penned a four-year deal at Rangers today and the lure of first-team football in a progressive team was too much to turn down.

Dodoo played four games for Leicester last season, netting a hat-trick on his debut before moving on loan to Bury.

Speaking exclusively to RangersTV he said: “Of course I had other options but sometimes you have to make a decision on what club is best for you and I felt like the manager was the right one for me.

“I was tempted to stay at Leicester and that was a possibility but you have to make the right decision based on what is going on and I felt this was the right place for me to come right now.

“It felt like the right place to prove and the manager will nurture me and make me the player I want to be.

“The football is right, they play good football and that suits me.

“That is how I play, it’s nice because they like to pass the ball and work out from the back and for me that is good.

“That creates a lot of chances and as a striker I am going to get a lot of chances in the game.

“It is a great club with a lot of old values about it and great football. I have always watched the way they play and the way they are evolving now which is great.

“There is a new manager, they are back amongst the bit time and are looking to strive for it.”

For Dodoo it was the man at the helm that really made his decision to join the Gers final, Mark Warburton’s record of producing young talent was important to the attacker.

Prior to his deal Dodoo had been on trial for a week, working with the manager and that made him sure the move was right.

He said: “The manager said that they have a good philosophy and are looking to move forward, that is the most important thing.

“He is looking to get the club high again and he needs to the players to come and the way he plays suits me.

“He is ready to develop young players as well which is really good for me to come here.

“From what I have seen so far since I have been here it is very promising and I can’t wait to be part of it.

“When I spoke to the manager he told me his intentions and for me turning 21 it is a great club to come to, do the job and make everybody happy.

“It is the right time because I need to be playing regular football and Rangers is a good place for me to come to do that.”
