ian1964 10,613 Posted July 18, 2016 Share Posted July 18, 2016 FORMER Celtic star Massimo Donati admitted he was delighted to be back in Scottish football after joining Hamilton Accies. As exclusively revealed by SunSport earlier this month the Italian midfielder has penned a 12-month deal at New Douglas Park. Donati who spent two seasons at Celtic under Gordon Strachan, was a free agent following his release by Serie B outfit Bari. The 35-year-old veteran said: “It’s a pleasure to be back in Scotland again seven years after leaving Celtic and I’m desperate to get started at Hamilton. “I have a lot of happy memories from my first spell here and hopefully there will be a few more the second time around as well. “It will be a different challenge at Hamilton but it is one that I am really looking forward to.” Donati was part of Celtic’s title-winning squad in season 2007/08. But he was deemed surplus to requirements by manager Tony Mowbray the following summer. After leaving Parkhead the playmaker had two stints at Bari while also enjoying spells in Italy at Palermo and Verona. Donati has been recruited by player-boss Martin Canning after impressing during Accies’ pre-season training camp in Spain.
