Battery to host Glasgow Rangers on July 6th

CHARLESTON, SC – The Charleston Battery will host an international exhibition match with 54-time Scottish Premier League Champions Rangers Football Club at MUSC Health Stadium on Wednesday, July 6.

Rangers will participate in a 10-day preseason training camp in Charleston prior to the match with the Battery. The game is the only scheduled match that Rangers will play in the U.S.A. in 2016. Kick off is at 7:00 p.m., gates open at 5:00 p.m.

Rangers manager, Mark Warburton: “We are delighted our pre-season program is now confirmed and we look forward to traveling to America in late June. We will enjoy 10 days of warm weather training in South Carolina and play Charleston Battery on July 6 before we return to Glasgow for the start of the 2016/17 campaign.”

Tickets for the game go on sale to the public on Wednesday, June 1st at 10:00 am, with single seats starting at $35. However, fans will have the opportunity receive tickets to the match as early as today with the purchase or renewal of a 2017 Battery season ticket. All those who purchase or renew a season ticket for next season will receive a complimentary ticket to the match against Rangers.

With 54 league championships, 33 Scottish Cups, and 34 Scottish League Cups, Rangers have won more league titles and trebles than any club in the world. The Light Blues competed in Scotland’s first division every year from the date of the team’s inception in 1872 until 2012. Most recently, Rangers won the Scottish Championship, sealing the team’s return to top-flight football for the 2016-2017 season.

Charleston Battery president, Andrew Bell: “We are thrilled that Glasgow Rangers is coming to Charleston for their pre-season and we are looking forward to playing them in this special game. They are an iconic Club and this is a tremendous opportunity for our fans and U.S. based Rangers fans to see them here at MUSC Health Stadium.”

Also of note for fans interested in attending the international friendly is the completion of a major project at MUSC Health Stadium: the 3,000 square foot video board will be up and running for the Rangers match. The jumbotron will offer fans a new, more interactive experience in the stadium and will be heavily utilized during RFC’s visit.

Charleston Battery 2017 season tickets can be purchased or renewed today by calling (843) 971-4625, ensuring a ticket to the Rangers game. Ticket purchases after June 1st can be made through phone or online.

If they're playing in anything like the heat here in Oklahoma they're in for an ordeal, I can barely walk for 5 minutes far less run in the heat and humidity here. It's probably around 100 faranheit out there and the humidity makes it even worse.

They should make anybody who could do with losing a few pounds play.
