Hibs friendly with Derby at Easter Road ‘called off by police’

Recommended Posts

HIBERNIAN’s plans for a pre-season friendly match against Derby County have reportedly been dashed by the police.

A match had been pencilled in for July 31 at Easter Road after talks had taken place, but reports in Derby suggested officers in the Capital had ‘raised concerns’ over the fixture.

The Rams are playing a series of friendly matches away from home due to renovation work taking place at the iPro Stadium, and were in talks to travel to Edinburgh at the end of their pre-season programme.

Derby are already taking on Vitoria Setubal and Benfica in Portugal, before returning to England to take on Walsall, Chesterfield and Sheffield United.

Hibs face Berwick Rangers this evening, Edinburgh City on July 7; Motherwell on July 10 and Birmingham City on July 24.
