SPFL 2016/17 fixtures: Hamilton at home on first day of season

Recommended Posts

I genuinely cannot believe they didn't get a home game in the first match :D it's hilarious. Also, Dec 31st OF?

I like it, I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that they could drop points in the first match away to Hearts while we could steamroller over Hamilton at Ibrox to top the league on the first day.

The one very tough situation is that we have away games in the first quarter to the top 3 sides, tims, jambos & dolly. Of course this should mean that we get to play all 3 at Ibrox post-split, which may be important if we haven't won the league by then!

My guess is that they want to "postpone" a home game on the second weekend of the season to fit in a "glamour" friendly so the fixtures had to pan out this way. Only a guess!

" Due to the club’s involvement, and with Celtic playing Inter Milan on August 13, the Scottish Premiership League flag will be unfurled at Celtic’s first home UEFA Champions League qualifying match, the date of which will be confirmed on Monday, June 20.

Celtic would like to thank the SPFL, UEFA and league sponsor Ladbrokes for their assistance with this matter and as this is a season book match, our season ticket holders will be able to join in the celebrations that evening on what we hope will be the start of another exciting year for the club. "

It doesn't stop the usual conspiracy theorists from crying "fix" once again though. :flipa:
