boabie 230
Yes, this isn't new news but Raman is saying it's just breaking mainstream now because his last day is today or tomorrow. Apologies guys. I also knew he was going but was just confirming that he has now left the building.
MacK1950 2,405
Shame to see him go but it seems and I think correctly that MW wants his own "team" and would hope that Ian would bear no grudges and continue in his support of us. Good luck Ian and thanks for the memories.
Germinal 27
Mildly surprised & disappointed, anytime I watched the u-20's they seemed to have bought into the MW philosophy completely, up to the point of not bothering defending.

I don't think that it is quite "buying into the MW philosophy" because the MW philosophy is now the ONLY way at Murray Park i.e. if you don't play the MW way then you may as well leave. And rightly so. Warburton wants every team that plays 11-a-side to be playing the exact same way with the same philosophy. I was just speaking to my RFC contact this week and he confirmed it. Regarding a U20's coach and MW wanting his own man in there..... I am sure he will probably bring in someone from his past dealings but there are already some fine coaches at Murray Park. Craig Mulholland himself for example, though I am sure that he has many other commitments as Academy director - but I know he shares the same kind of philosophy as Warburton. There are a number of others too who I could name that are fine coaches. Whoever gets the job you can be assured that he will have the same philosophy as MW though.
cooponthewing 1,139
Personally I reckon Kenny Miller is a great shout. I hope he is offered some form of coaching role soon, he keeps in good shape, is knowledgeable and a great role model for the modern footballer. Reminds me a bit of Richard Gough in that respect.
craig 5,199
Kenny Miller possibly becoming the U20 coach ????? Tannochsidebear is either on suicide watch at the thought of Miller still being at the club or is praying that the coaching gig is full time with a contract clause preventing him from appearing for the 1st team :fish:

The Ajax philosophy from the 70's.

JohnMc 2,884
I'm really disappointed to read this, I was under the impression Durrant had been doing a good job and was a popular and respected coach, particularly of younger players. My total love of Durrant the player means I've a blind spot where it comes to him. Durrant was the first genuinely international class player we produced in over a decade, an elegant yet highly effective player capable of winning matches on his own. I recently watched the Skol Cup Final against Celtic from the mid 80s and Durrant was just sensational, we forget just how good a player he was before his injury. I'm sorry no other role could have been found for him at the club, as someone who has been with us literally since childhood it feels like he could have been treated a little better.
