The Scottish Cup Final: Rangers v Hibs

Recommended Posts

IMHO, what was levelled out at the end and made them spill to the field wasn't the end of their 114-year wait, but exploding frustration at them staying in the Championship and the joy of beating a hated rival. I have no doubt whatsoever that nothing of what we have witnessed yesterday would have happened had they played Killie, ICT or the like.

Getting promoted was the target this season, the cup was a bonus!,gutted we lost the final but it was all about getting promoted, onwards and upwards

Agreed !

Approaching the semi-final I feared that we were running on empty with few options and may pay for it but we managed to turn-up and perform brilliantly. However that day is when our season ended with the gap between our last league fixture and the Final making it doubly difficult for the one game that mattered.

absolute nonsense.

Indeed so. It was an exercise in trying to balance incompatibilities. Very disappointed in Wilson, you'd think he had moved to the BBC or something. Oh, wait...

Yesterday, we played for five minutes, between the 60th and 65th minutes. It culminated in a well taken goal giving us the lead. It should have provided the impetus to go on a lift the cup, thus securing European football next season. Hibs stepped up, created several chances and took two. Well done Hibs. In that same period, we created very little.

How many goals have we conceded to Hibs this season, directly from corners/set pieces? I listened to Fraser Fyfie being interviewed post match. He was delighted that their week's work on specific set pieces had paid off. Are we working on defending said set pieces?

Prior to yesterday it was one goal conceded from a set-piece in 450 minutes (corner in Hibs 2-1 Rangers game).

Last 10 minutes yesterday saw 2 and if there had been another well delivered corner it would have probably been 3 because we'd switched off.

Re The Richard Wilson article and TBB being sung, please please don't believe his version!! TBB was sung approx. 10mins after the final whistle, the Hibs fans were already on the pitch, thousands of them, they had already attacked the players and were at this point at the other end of the park confronting the Rangers end. I know as at this point I had managed to pull me niece up the stairs through a pile of bears and was at the top watching. 10minutes after the whistle!! This is a stich up of the highest order. I am not condoning anyone, however the Hibs fans certainly did not come on to the pitch due to this. The song was sung at the west stand due to severe provocation from the Hibs fans who were already on the pitch, committed crimes and were looking to cause problems at the Rangers end.

"Other moments had briefly marred the event earlier, with two flares in the Rangers end and a rendition of the Billy Boys. The pitch invasion cannot be dismissed as purely joyful, though, when punches were thrown and players and match officials had to be escorted from the field."

The above comments are nonsense as I explained in the post re The Richard Wilson article.
