Benitez wants reunion with Rangers' Frank McParland, he has no desire to leave Ibrox

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez wants to reunite with Rangers' head of recruitment Frank McParland at St. James' Park.

 

Benitez, 56, was brought to Newcastle back in March with the aim of keeping the Magpies in the Premier League, but despite some strong results with no defeats in the final six games, Newcastle dropped into the Championship before the final day of the season.

 

Despite his standing as a top manager and Champions League winner, Benitez now looks set to stay at St. James' Park this summer and lead Newcastle into the Championship - but changes are coming on Tyneside.

 

The Daily Mail report that head scout Graham Carr is leaving the club this summer, and Benitez wants to bring in somebody he trusts to replace him as a recruitment guru - and he has turned his attention to Rangers man Frank McParland.

 

McParland is serving as Rangers' head of recruitment, having reunited with Mark Warburton and David Weir at Ibrox, with all three previously working together at Brentford.

 

He has played a huge part in the club's transfer moves already, as he secured the signing of Liverpool teenager Jordan Rossiter last week, and is now moving for former Newcastle star Joey Barton in an ambitious move.

 

However, the Daily Mail report that Benitez - who worked closely with McParland at Liverpool - wants a reunion with the Rangers man at St. James' Park this summer, and is preparing a move to try and lure him back down to England.

 

It is though added that McParland currently has no desire to leave Ibrox, even if it's believed that a possible move to work under Benitez again could turn his head this summer.

Surely he has seen how toxic Ashely is. Anyone who is not desperate for work would be better staying well clear of him.

I doubt Benitez will stay with Newcastle beyond the summer never mind McParland joining him.
