colinstein 294
"As Prime Minister at the time, Thatcher has to take ultimate responsibility for the cover-up but it's difficult to tell just how much she was involved. " fuckin' 100% responsible. she fattened up the cops with 50% pay rises, passed anti trade union laws and the polis battered the miners into submission, the cops were given a carte blanch. They covered up the brutality at Orgreave and thought they could cover up their failings at leppings lane.........it was a culture encouraged by Thatcher......... RANGERRAB 3,732
Was it not the responsibility of the Home Secretary rather than the PM?

buster. 5,257
You can bet your bottom dollar Thatcher knew...how could she not? Of course she knew. Same Police force was involved in the infamous 'Battle of Orgreave' (Miners Strike) and involved in a cover-up which would have been facilitated due to shared interests. Thatcher helped polute our society and send it down a path where we now see her legacy in various toxic forms.
Bluedell 5,679
So basically nobody has the slightest piece of credible evidence that Thatcher knew....
Germinal 27
I doubt if Mrs Thatcher actually knew that the cops were lying from day 1. The point is that she automatically believed the cops' story over the families and survivors because they are the police and, as John says, the dead were only football fans.
