calscot 0
if they hate us quite that much, it's hard to shake the feeling, underneath it all, that we're doing something right Really weird and nefarious way of thinking. Is there some kind mental disease being passed around in Scottish stadiums? I find it highly embarrassing that these people are from my home country.
craig 5,199
He seemed to have as much concern for the continual trampling of Rangers than he had concern for the demise of his club and where it may be headed. Interestingly he talks about Rangers Schadenfreude..... yet he seems to show as much passion towards commenting on us as his own Club. Pitiful wee club that deserve to be where they are. Your hate of Rangers wont be forgiven or forgotten, at least not by me. And Spiers is so full of the proverbial. Dundee Utd are a Scottish footballing institution that recently had good times ? What does Spiers call "good times" ? Avoiding relegation ? Talks a load of shite does Graham, nothing surprising in that statement though !
ian1964 10,724
Really weird and nefarious way of thinking. Is there some kind mental disease being passed around in Scottish stadiums? I find it highly embarrassing that these people are from my home country. I've always known other fans in Scotland hate us,but not to the extremes I have witnessed since our troubles and so much so that I actually hate every other club and their fans with a passion
calscot 0
Not sure if I hate them, that's a bit strong, but I take pleasure in some of their troubles, not because of hate, but because I like a bit of karma, a bit of come-upence, whatever you want to call it. I think if Rangers fans do dislike or hate other clubs, they usually have good and consistent reasons generally about how that club and its fans have treated us. If we like a bit of poetic justice, how does that justify those people's actions? The attitude from Dundee Utd is like, "We stole your money, kicked you repeatedly when you were down, continually say you're dead, and slander you at every opportunity. You now hate us, so we must have done something right!" Weird stuff from someone who is a spokesperson.
RANGERRAB 3,677
Just watch 'league reconstruction' back on the agenda next season as their chums in the Premiership (Liewell & milne to name two) propose a 16club top division the season after next to help them back up. It must be resisted at all costs
ian1964 10,724
Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson wipes out playing squad with brutal cull ... including John Rankin BIG names such as John Rankin, Ryan Dow and Calum Morris won’t get new deals while misfits such as Guy Demel and Florent Sinema Pongolle are out. STEPHEN THOMPSON today wiped out Dundee United’s playing squad with a brutal cull. Thompson and general manager David Southern told eight out-of-contract players they would not be getting new deals - and informed all but four first team members they were free to find new clubs. Only Blair Spittal, Scott Fraser, Simon Murray and Luis Swick were assured of their futures with keeper Eiji Kawashima set to be offered new terms as the under siege United board attempt to slash the wage bill. Big names such as John Rankin, Ryan Dow and Calum Morris won’t get new deals while misfits such as Guy Demel and Florent Sinema Pongolle are out. But other players who still have contracts beyond the summer - including Sean Dillon, Paul Paton and Paul Dixon and big money flops like Darko Bodul and Henri Anier - are also free to leave as United desperately need to butcher costs. There is also set to be major collateral damage behind the scenes with swingeing staff cuts. Thompson said: “I have had to explain the harsh realities of relegation to the squad. I spoke to them about cost cutting measures. It was not a pleasant thing to have to do, but it was better to do it face to face with them. John Rankin was there in his SPFA capacity and was very good about things. He was a great help.” The United board want to give any new boss a clean slate and are biding their time to talk to former Terrors star Ray McKinnon while he negotiates the play-offs with Raith Rovers . McKinnon is keeping his options open and won’t discuss any potential position until the promotion issue is settled but United won’t wait for the new man to start the stripping back following the drop. Paatelainen was the first to the door after the finer details of his severance deal were tied up early yesterday morning. The former Kilmarnock and Hibs boss said his goodbyes at United’s St Andrew’s training base and the decision was confirmed with a blunt three paragraph statement from the club, which included a brief message from the Finn. Paatelainen said: “I would like to thank the players, staff and supporters. It has been a difficult winter and the challenge was huge but nevertheless I have enjoyed every day working for the club and with this group of players”. The Finn’s no.2 Gordon Young is expected to take training this morning and prepare for tomorrow night’s Premiership clash at Inverness. Meanwhile furious fans group the Federation of Dundee United Supporters issued a stinging statement calling for Thompson to follow Paatelainen out the door. They also demanded the chairman come clean on the financial plight of the club. The fans group said: “It is plain for all to see that change is needed throughout the Football Club to allow us to turn the current unacceptable situation around. “Sadly we are where we are because the current incumbents in the boardroom and on the management team, tasked with running our proud football club, are simply not up to it as has been proven by our demise to the second tier. “We would also wish for recent reports concerning potential financial issues affecting the club to be made transparent for all fans, to give absolute clarity on our current financial position. There can be no hiding on this issue.” Read more at http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/dundee-united-chairman-stephen-thompson-7897988#ZTh8HH1QQxBDdZVW.99

26th of foot 6,084
Does Jum Spence continue to sit naked on Stephen Thompson's lap, whilst feeding him peeled grapes? We should be told?
