Rotherham agree deal for Tottenham's Ball

HITC Sport understands Rotherham have agreed a deal for the Premier League defender, who was on loan at Rangers last season.

Rotherham United have agreed a deal to sign Rangers target Dominic Ball from Tottenham Hotspur, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Ball's future has been the subject of speculation this summer after impressing on a season-long loan at Rangers last season.

Ball made 30 appearances in all competitions for Rangers last season as they secured promotion back to the Scottish Premiership and the Glasgow giants have been keen to bring him back to Ibrox this summer.

Ball returned to Tottenham after his spell at Rangers and a number of clubs are understood to have made enquiries about signing the England under-20 international.

Rangers were keen on re-signing Ball, while Leeds United were also keeping tabs on the 21-year-old, but Rotherham have moved quickly to land Ball.

Rotherham boss Alan Stubbs is a big admirer of the 21-year-old having seen him in action in Scotland last season while he was manager of Hibernian and he sees versatility to play at both centre-back and in holding midfield as a key addition to his squad.

Ball, who joined Tottenham from Watford in 2011, is highly regarded at White Hart Lane, but with the player well down the pecking order in Mauricio Pochettino's first-team plans they have agreed to let him move on.

Ball has agreed a three-year deal at Rotherham and he is set to go straight into the squad for this weekend's game with Aston Villa.

I am not really that worried to be honest. I think he will become good with age but he is not the CH we need at this moment.
