The Summer Transfer Rumour Round-up Thread

Recommended Posts

Doesn't anyone else think that Kiernan and Wilson were preferred because they had a fast contract and not a short term loan contract. After all They were the ones that were chosen for the long term.

Think MW recently has said the opposite. Loans must play 70% of the games or it's pointless for all concerned

The manager is working on it which may be a final piece in the jigsaw to satisfy you all. Plus we're going to get our first sight of Rossiter in action in a Rangers jersey tomorrow night.

Mark Warburton targets two more Rangers signings with a defender and a striker in his sights

THE Rangers boss believes his team are good enough to win the title but says his summer spending spree is far from over as he looks to add depth to his squad.

MARK WARBURTON says his Rangers side is good enough now to challenge for the

Premiership title – but he’s still looking for two more players.

The Ibrox gaffer’s squad will have strength in depth for their top-flight return after striker Joe Dodoo became signing number nine for Warburton.

However, he’d love to add a defender and striker before the end of the transfer window.

Warburton said: “I hope we can add one or two but they’ve got to be the right people, who are hard to find.

“There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes to do that.

“The strength of the bench is so important. The squad is getting stronger.

“We have three full-backs and three centre-backs. We need cover so we’d like another defender and a striker.

“In midfield we are really strong.”

Warburton left out Joey Barton, James Tavernier, Wes Foderingham and Martyn Waghorn in Friday night’s 3-0 Betfred Cup win over East Stirling.

But they’ll all start against Stranraer at Ibrox tomorrow with Jordan Rossiter – who joined from Liverpool – set to be involved.

Warburton said: “There will be more changes on Monday. Niko Kranjcar and Joey will start, while Wes, Tav and Waggy will be back.

“It’s a nice problem to have, we can fill our bench now which wasn’t always the case last season.

“Everyone thought I was making a statement but I wasn’t – we had no players. Jordan will join over the weekend after England U-19 duty so he’ll be available on Monday.”

Meanwhile, Josh Windass has tipped young winger Barrie McKay for a future in the Premier League.

The ex-Accrington midfielder, said: “Barrie is such an outstanding prospect.

“His technique and his pace is incredible for a guy so young and I think he has a big future.

“I was at the semi-final against Celtic when he scored that unbelievable goal at Hampden.

“I was told a lot of good things about him and I haven’t been disappointed.

“I don’t think there’s any doubt he could play in the English Premier League.”

Windass, who signed for the Gers earlier this month, added: “I hope Barrie stays here at Ibrox for a long, long time.

“His turn of pace is fantastic and he glides past people on the pitch like they aren’t there. He’s brilliant to watch and he has a big future.”

Windass bagged his first Gers goal in the win at the Shire.

He said: “I’ve made a big step up coming from Accrington. I knew what I was coming into, though, when I signed.”

Right back will still be a problem when Tav(the wanderer) is playing as the right sided mid fielder will have to cover two areas unless the wide right player helps with cover as McKay does with Wallace.

Don't agree we need cover at the back. We need a starting 11 player who can play 30+ games at CB

I'm confident if they can find anything better than we already have that's what they will go for.

We need a CB who will improve the defence which conceded far too many goals towards the end of last season

And we have hardly seen Hill in action and Crooks hasn't even played yet. I take it you know by heart that neither will improve our defence?

MacK1950 ... Hodson is the right-back cover for Tav. The reason why he played these last two games instead of Tav.
