The Summer Transfer Rumour Round-up Thread

Recommended Posts

Crooks is training with the team now.

That's good news. Would be nice to start the season with a fully fit squad for the manager to experiment with and decide what his first 11 will be. Wondering what he will go with next Wednesday against Charleston battery though I expect a lot of subbing and switching to take place in that one.

Apparently this lad has just signed a 3 yr deal with Man City

:)

Rangers have been linked with a move for Australian international midfielder Aaron Mooy this summer.

It was reported by The Herald Sun that Rangers were keen on bringing the player to Glasgow, initially on trial, but that request was denied by his then club Melbourne City.

Of course Mooy has now been on the move. He was confirmed as a Manchester City player earlier today, joining from their Australian partnership club.

However, could this in fact make a move to Ibrox more likely for the Rangers target?

As good as Mooy is he is not likely to feature often for Pep Guardiola’s men. Much like Luke Brattan or Anthony Caceres he is likely to head out on loan.

So why not Rangers?

Mooy would be a brilliant addition to the Ibrox fold from Mark Warburton – potentially becoming the final piece of the jigsaw to sufficiently strengthen the club’s midfield area.

Mooy, who scored against Rangers whilst a St Mirren player in 2011, scored 15 goals from midfield for Melbourne last season and has established himself in the Australia starting XI.

Given the managers known penchant for the loan market we have to expect some activity over the next few weeks as clubs get into their pre-season and begin deciding who is going out on loan and who is not.

I predict Mooy playing about 5 games for ManC next season.

I predict if he does it will be biref appearances as a substitute. And anyway, according to the always reliable wikipedia he is actually already on loan to Rangers. LOL

Aaron Frank Mooy (born 15 September 1990) is an Australian professional football player who plays as a midfielder for Scottish Premiership club Rangers, on loan from Manchester City in the English Premier League and the Australia national team.

Has Aaron Mooy's Manchester City move actually made Rangers switch more likely?

Rangers boss Mark Warburton was linked with bringing the Australian to Ibrox earlier this summer.

Rangers would be getting their hands on a class act and City would be getting to see him grow in Britain.

It could prove a great deal for both clubs.

Regarding Crooks it looks like he is in fact a bit of a giant when you see how tall he looks beside Kranjcar who himself is reportedly 6ft 1in

We definitely appear to be getting some height into the team which was largely lacking last season.

Have Man City got a link-up with an Australian A-League team? I cannot for a second believe this guy is good enough for Man City. They signed an Australian last season too (Brattan), form the A-League but loaned him straight back. Like the article says, they are not going to be part of Guardiola's plans. I mean, St Mirren, a few A-League sides to Guardiola's Man City in the Premier League? Unlikely.

To be honest, I didn't think he'd be good enough for Rangers when I saw him play for Australia; miss-placed passes and looks a little clumsy.

Edit: Yes, Al-Mubarak, the owner of Man City, does indeed own Melbourne City. They currently have 2 players (Australian) on loan from Man City. These guys were not bought for Man City.

You have got this spot on. Man City have only "bought" these players to get them off the wage bill at Melbourne. This type of stuff is exactly why there should be absolutely no dual ownership of football teams worldwide.
