BEARGER 1,850
Being reported that we will make a move for Southend goalkeeper Dan Bentley, his contract ends this summer.
ian1964 10,826
RANGERS could make a summer swoop for in-demand Southend goalie Daniel Bentley. SunSport can reveal the Ibrox side are keeping tabs on the former Arsenal youngster. Gers boss Mark Warburton is in the market for another keeper to add to his squad — and Essex-born Bentley, 22, looks to be one who fits the bill. Bentley joined the Gunners when he was just eight before moving to the Shrimpers in 2008. Since then he has become one of the most reliable keepers in the English Football League. Bentley was the club’s hero in last season’s League Two play-off final against Wycombe Wanderers at Wembley. Wycombe took the lead in extra-time when a free-kick went in off Bentley’s back. But, after Southend had levelled, he saved two spot-kicks in the penalty shootout to send them up to League One. Bentley’s current deal at Roots Hall is due to expire at the end of the season. He has so far stalled on signing an extension, with Premier League clubs including Everton, Norwich and Bournemouth all interested. The Shrimpers rejected a £1.25million offer from QPR last August and a host of other Championship sides including Hull and Cardiff are thought to be long-time admirers. All of them could offer more wages than Gers — but Warburton could try to tempt Bentley to Scotland with the promise he can compete for a first-team place. Wes Foderingham has been No1 since joining from Swindon 12 months ago. Last season’s first-choice Cammy Bell has had to make do with a place on the bench after overcoming an injury which kept him on the sidelines for the first half of the season. Just last week Bentley — an ever-present this term — admitted he could leave Southend. He said: “I’ll have to wait and see what happens. My agent and I are in talks with the club. I have to weigh up what my situation is. “I want to play at the highest level. I think every footballer would say the same.” http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/sport/7096197/Rangers-eye-summer-swoop-for-Southend-keeper-Daniel-Bentley.html
der Berliner 4,003
A lot of conjecture in there, I have a link in the new March and April rumours thread.
pete 2,511
We need a better Goalie in my opinion. I have never been a fan of Foderingham even before his blooper this week. For his size he is weak at crosses and he isn't a great shot stopper either. As for his blooper I don't even count it as every keeper will make them sometimes.

And Cammy Bell will always be remembered for his "blunder" vs Motherwell, I assume? Neither of which come even close into the variety of Simonsen's vs the Arabs, but there you go. The problem is that a goalie's mistake has fatal consequences and he can hardly atone for it. With them though, we more often than not forget the vital stops they made in 4-0 wins (when the score was 0-0 or just 1-0). If he gets more than a couple of yards from his line his nose starts bleeding(metaphorically). I think he lost all confidence with us and that happens to some keepers. Remember Snelders refusing to play in an old firm game and did the same for Holland. It is best for him to move away and try and rebuild his confidence and carreer somewhere else.

Scott7 6,464
There's only one "Goalie". The rest are 'keepers.
Frankie 8,813
Can't see us spending upwards of £1m for a replacement for Cammy Bell.

Sidenote: I see no real way back for Bell either. Liam Kelly is out on loan this season, I would reckon McCrorie will be next season. The goalie linked above looks to me more like a random guess by some journo though.
