Before I had ever seen him I heard him on the wireless and thought "a guy who talks a good game."...you see them at job interviews.....and I immediately dismissed him as a smoothie. How wrong I was I made the same mistake about Nicholas Parsons....first seen him on telly as Arthur Haines' straight man, then in some game show....a complete wank I thought. Then I heard him on "Just a minute" on Radio 4....absolutely brilliant ! I need too keep a more open mind I think ps I know it's only 4.45 but it IS Friday !
