TLB - Old Firm Game Too Big For Warburton

Recommended Posts

Typical tabloid nonsense. Though with the amount of headlines like this I think it only serves to add more pressure to the Celtic team.

I'm sure our players are well aware that they're being given little chance in this game by the media but that's a good thing. They just have to go out and play the high tempo game we've played all season. I don't believe for a second the size of the occasion will phase our management or players.

Prepared or not I'm willing to wage money on the fact that should we {probably expectedly} lose, our manager will not follow in the footsteps of O'Neil, Lennon and countless others from the east end and start wailing about conspiracies or cheating.

I really don't think we'll lose, I fully expect to beat them.

What would Lennon know about coping with an old firm match?

TLB will learn from our manager how to remain dignified on the touch line win, lose or draw. TLB has just been sacked for taking his club down to the bottom of the league!,compare to MW who had taken his team to the brink of the EPL!,I don't think there is much advice he could give our manager!

WE’VE trawled the archives – with the help of Gavin Berry and Michael Gannon – to find out if history proves Lennon’s theory is correct.

NEIL LENNON reckons nothing will prepare Mark Warburton for next month’s Scottish Cup semi-final showdown against Celtic.

The former Hoops boss believes the fixture between the Glasgow giants is a baptism of fire that proves too hot for relative rookies.

But is he right? Here Record Sport Online dips into the archives to find out how other managers have fared on their derby debuts.

We’ve started our Old Firm fact-finding mission from the mid-80s so here goes...

RANGERS

Graeme Souness May 1986:

Won 3-2 (Glasgow Cup Final)

Walter Smith August 1991:

Won 2-0

Dick Advocaat September 1998:

Drew 0-0

And the winner is...

In seven debuts a Rangers manager has lost only two games.

Ronny Deila February 2015:

Seems Rangers managers do OK as debutants. All this crap says nothing though.
