Rumour mill: Hibs star wants switch to Ibrox

Recommended Posts

As yet un-sourced rumours surfacing today have claimed that Hibs’ star forward Jason Cummings desires to make the switch from Easter Road to Ibrox this summer.

The 20-year old attacker has been long-linked with a move to Rangers, despite some very public ‘banter’ at the expense of the Govan giants such as claiming they were ‘rattled’ following the loss at Easter Road earlier in the season:

“It’s only five points, it’s nothing, you can claw that back in a couple of weeks and hopefully that rattles them a wee bit. Our confidence is through the roof now. I can’t see us getting beaten any time soon and their heads are going to be down.”

It did not quite pan out that way, but nevertheless Cummings has proven his talent over the past two seasons under Stubbs’ guidance and while Rangers are hardly lacking in attacking quality, they will always be linked to the best players available with an assault on the upper tier on the horizon, and the suggestions are that Cummings would prefer Premiership Rangers to Championship Hibernian. In all fairness, name someone who would not.

However, whether he is a player manager Mark Warburton would be interesting in securing is a completely different matter though.

Translation:

There is a Hibernian forward called Jason Cummings. He said:

“It’s only five points, it’s nothing, you can claw that back in a couple of weeks and hopefully that rattles them a wee bit. Our confidence is through the roof now. I can’t see us getting beaten any time soon and their heads are going to be down.”

Hibs didn't want to sell Allan because it would have seriously dented their chances of promotion, at the time. Why Allan went to the Scum in a flash is something he would have to answer. Should we go up and Hibs don't, Cummings will be off. And Hibs have not only sold or loaned people to their rival Championship teams since (or bought their players), but would also fail in their argument that it would strengthen a rival if they stay where they are. They will probably have to cash in on an asset or two to survive another season in the Championship too.

Cummings is IMHO just another Waghorn type of attacking striker that likes to shoot whenever the opportunity* arises. Fast, direct and bags of talent. He'd be one of my prime targets in the summer, has a contract till 2017 and would probably cost 500k. 36 games, 20 goals, 4 assists. And do keep in mind, Clark and King might well be off in the summer, as might be Shiels.

*Something we dearly lack, as we play far too many passes at times (sic!) before shooting.

I was chatting with some Hibs fans on the train back to Edinburgh after we beat them over Christmas and they didn't rate him that highly. Decent finisher, they said, but criticised his all-round game. Going on his performances against us, I'd have him in a heartbeat (alleged attitude issues notwithstanding). He's been an irritating wee git whenever we've played them and taken his chances well. But what do I know? Ian Black used to play well against us and look where that got us.

Totally agree, they can afford to take a punt,if it works its all good, if it doesnt?hey ho they try somebody else.

We cant afford to be doing this any more.
