Rangers boss Mark Warburton back in to bring Tottenham starlet Harry Winks to Ibrox on loan

ENGLAND Under-20 midfielder a top target of the Gers manager as he looks to continue link with the White Hart Lane club.

RANGERS are eyeing a summer loan swoop for Tottenham starlet Harry Winks.

The 20-year-old has been a long-term target of Rangers boss Mark Warburton, who is aiming to sign Winks on a season-long loan deal in July.

England under-20 midfielder Winks has already featured twice at first team level for Tottenham in the Europa League ties against FK Qarabag and Fiorentina.

Now Tottenham want Winks to experience a regular run of games – triggering off preliminary talks with Rangers.

Warburton admits he spoke with Tottenham and Arsenal earlier this week to kick off talks designed to bring quality youngsters into Rangers on loan.

Winks was originally linked with a loan move to Rangers last summer, but in the end he chose to stay in North London.

Defender Dominic Ball and striker Nathan Oduwa have both already swapped White Hart Lane for Ibrox this season and Tottenham believe the loans have helped their development.

Now Winks is poised to follow the same path as his old Spurs Academy team-mates by moving to Rangers for a year.

I'm not convinced that getting players on loan with little or no first team experience is what we need

In theory, yes, but if he has the ability to contribute and fit into our way of playing, his inexperience is irrelevant.

I'd prefer permanent deals, however.
