St Mirren Fans Rage After Club Gives Rangers Another Stand For Title Party

Rangers fans will get the whole of St Mirren’s South Stand to celebrate on the day they could lift the Scottish Championship title.

The Ibrox side currently lead Falkirk by 14 points at the top of the table and could clinch promotion to the Premiership as soon as early April.

That means the club would have plenty of time to prepare for holding the Championship trophy aloft after they take on St Mirren on the final day of the season.

Ordinarily the away team is handed only a portion of the total stadium capacity, but St Mirren have decided to give Rangers the full South Stand as well as the usual North Stand allocated to the away support.

And that means at least 3200 Rangers fans will be in attendance to see Mark Warburton and his side lift the title.

A statement from the club on saintmirren.net read: “Due to the unprecedented demand for ticket requests from Rangers Football Club for the last game of the season on 30th April at the Paisley 2021 Stadium, we have decided after careful consideration and consultation with Police Scotland, to allocate Rangers fans full access to the South Stand.

“In order to accommodate this decision we would like to ask all our Season Ticket holders within the South Stand to contact the Ticket Office, where we will allocate you an alternative seat for the game.

“Requests for alternative seating must be made to the Ticket Office staff by 20th April 2016.

We appreciate that this may cause some inconvenience but would appreciate your co-operation and we thank you for your continued support.”

By the time that game rolls around it looks unlikely that St Mirren will still have anything to play for.

Alex Rae’s men sit seventh in the Championship, 11 points behind the promotion play-off places and seven away from the relegation play-off spot.

But the decision could still cause some problems for the club, with some fans angry that they will have to give up their seat for an away fan:

Not that Rangers fans will be complaining.

Some St Mirren fans saying on twitter they will be giving up their season ticket.

St Mirren just cashing in on the blue pound

Can you blame them? I think the supporters are pretty stupid really as that money could pay a decent players wages for a part of next season which they would all benefit from.

Aye but remember most,if not all, fans of other Scottish clubs would rather see their own club suffer/die than help Rangers!,threatening not to buy season tickets!,telling porkies about sell out Saturdays! etc:..................
