Rangers Loan Review

Recommended Posts

RANGERS currently have ten players out on loan across Scotland and you can find out how they got on at the weekend here:

RYAN HARDIE | RAITH ROVERS

Ryan Hardie played the full match for Raith as they drew 1-1 with Alloa Athletic. Steven Hetherington opened the scoring for the Wasps before Kyle Benedictus equalised for Raith right at the end of the match into the second minute of additional time.

Hardie went close within the fifteenth minute of the match after impressing with his close control inside the box to find himself some space, only to see his shot blocked and the chance thwarted. Hardie had a chance ten minutes later when he was slipped through on goal, but he didn’t have the pace on the shot to test former teammate Scott Gallacher in goal.

After Benedictus had scored a late winner, Hardie had a chance right at the end of the game to secure all three points, but after finding himself on the ball inside the box he couldn’t dig the ball out from under his feet to test the goalkeeper.

Hardie has now played five games for Raith, scoring four goals, winning four games and drawing one.

JORDAN THOMPSON | AIRDIEONIANS

Jordan Thompson started against Brechin City at home on Saturday and played for the first 56 minutes of the 2-0 defeat. Danny Lennon took control of the Diamonds side following Eddie Wolecki Black’s recent illness however it wasn’t to be an ideal start to his time as caretaker boss.

Thompson has now played four times for Airdrieonians since joining on emergency loan and he’s scored one goal in that time.

ROSS MCCRORIE | AYR UNITED

Ross McCrorie played the full ninety minutes as Ayr United were defeated 2:0 by Dunfermline in League One on Saturday due to two Faissal El Bakhatoui goals.

McCrorie also played 67 minutes of a 4-1 win over Stenhousemuir last Tuesday, meaning he has now played five games for Ayr during his emergency loan spell. He’s won three games, lost two and scored one goal.

LIAM KELLY | EAST FIFE

Twenty year old goalkeeper Liam Kelly has made ten appearances for East Fife, keeping three clean sheets and winning eight times.

This weekend he played the full ninety minutes of a 4-2 win over Annan Athletic. The win means the men from Methil remain top of League Two by a single point over Elgin City.

FRASER AIRD | VANCOUVER WHITECAPS

The MLS season may just kicking off, but Fraser Aird’s Vancouver Whitecaps have suffered two straight defeats in a row, the latest a 2-1 defeat to Sporting Kansas City.

Dominic Dwyer fired two first half goals for Sporting KC before Aird was introduced at half time and Pedro Morales pulled one back for Vancouver from the penalty spot with twenty minutes remaining on the clock.

After coming through pre-season, the young Canadian has now taken part in both matches already this season, albeit the results have not been what he would have hoped at this early point in the season.

TOM WALSH | DUMBARTON

Tom Walsh was a second half substitute for Dumbarton as they drew with Falkirk. John Baird opened the scoring from the penalty spot, before Gary Fleming also scored from the penalty spot for Dumbarton. Walsh has now played nine games for Dumbarton, winning twice and drawing once.

ROBBIE CRAWFORD | ALLOA ATHLETIC

Robbie Crawford was an unused substitute in the match against Raith Rovers that Ryan Hardie played in described above. Crawford has now played twenty times for Alloa this season, scoring once against Livingston. Next up for the Wasps are Greenock Morton away from home on Saturday.

LUCA GASPAROTTO | MORTON

With Jim Duffy’s Greenock Morton guests at Ibrox on Friday night, Luca Gasparotto wasn’t eligible to play against his parent club. Next up for Luca and Morton are Queen of the South tomorrow night.

ANDY MURDOCH | QUEEN OF THE SOUTH

Andy Murdoch played the full ninety minutes as the Doonhamers were defeated 2-1 by Alex Rae’s St Mirren in Paisley. Stephen Mallan opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Gary Oliver equalised, the match was won through an own goal scored by Callum Tapping.

Murdoch has now played four times for the Doonhamers, scoring once, and next up is Greenock Morton tomorrow night away from home.

DARREN RAMSAY | ARBROATH

Darren Ramsay played for seventy-four minutes of Arbroath’s 3-0 win over East Stirlingshire before being replaced by Jamie Reid. Goals from Craig Wilson, Mark Whatley and Mark Williams were the scorers on the day

Ramsay has spent the majority of the season at ninth placed Arbroath and has now played twenty-nine times, scoring four goals and assisting in three.
