Gers Players Called Up

Recommended Posts

RANGERS have this afternoon had a number of players called up to Scotland squads at various age levels.

In the under-21 age group, Barrie McKay‘s scintillating form has seen him earn the call to Ricky Sbragia’s squad, and he is joined there by fellow winger Billy King for their Euro Under-21 qualifying matches away to France and at home to Northern Ireland on March 24 and March 29 respectively.

McKay’s performances have caught the eye throughout the season, and he has scored six goals in 37 appearances so far in this campaign, while King has played five times since arriving in January, scoring a memorable winner against Falkirk on his debut in the final minute of the match.

In the under-17s, twins Robby and Ross McCrorie, the latter currently being on loan at Ayr United, and Ryan Hardie, who is on loan at Raith Rovers, have been chosen for their Euro Under-19 Championships Elite Round games with Belgium, Croatia and Bulgaria which take place from March 23 to March 28.

All three are regulars for Scotland at that age group, with Hardie hitting a hat-trick for loan club Raith against St Mirren at the weekend, while Ross McCrorie has impressed greatly in his short spell at Ayr United so far.

Meanwhile, in the under-17s, Liam Burt, Jack Thomson, Jason Krones and Kieran Wright have all been selected for the Euro Under-17 Championships Elite Round matches against Denmark, Switzerland and hosts the Czech Republic which take place from March 28 to April 2.

Burt has featured in and around the first-team in recent weeks, making his debut against Raith Rovers in a 2-0 win on March 1 while Thomson also made the bench for last weekend’s 4-0 Scottish Cup demolition of Dundee.

Burt, Thomson and Krones were also three of seven young players to sign extended deals with Rangers last week.
