FAST FACTS

Rangers and Morton have met on 62 occasions at Ibrox on league business with Rangers recording 44 wins, Morton taking the points eight times and 10 encounters being drawn. Gers have scored 152 goals to Morton’s 48.

Rangers lost as many goals to Morton during the 2-2 draw in their last Ibrox meeting in December than they had in the Greenock side’s previous eight visits to the Stadium on league business, between October 1981 and January 1988.

A 1-0 Rangers win has been the most regular scoreline in all league meetings between the sides, occurring 15 times, but the most frequent result when only taking into account the games played at Ibrox has been 2-0 to Rangers which has happened on eight occasions.

Martyn Waghorn is the top scorer of the current squad in matches against Morton with four goals, including a hat-trick in the first meeting of the season in September, but he still has some work to do to equal RC Hamilton’s overall record of 12 league strikes against the Cappielow side.

No fewer than eight players – Wes Foderingham, James Tavernier, Rob Kiernan, Lee Wallace, Andy Halliday, Gedion Zelalem, Martyn Waghorn and Barrie McKay have started all three of the previous meetings with Morton this season, while Kenny Miller (2 starts, 1 sub) and Dean Shiels (3 sub) have also featured in the three games.

Rangers are currently ten games unbeaten in league matches against Morton at Ibrox, dating back to April 1981, which includes seven wins and three draws. They still have some way to go to equal the 20-match unbeaten run between February 1918 and March 1952, of which 18 games were won and only two drawn.

OPPOSITION VIEW

Lee Kilday: “We have another massive game on Friday now, away to Ibrox — so it doesn’t get any easier. We’ll need to prepare well for that and see what we can do.”

THE LAST TIME

RANGERS earned a hard-fought three points against Morton tonight to restore their five point advantage over Hibernian at the top of the Championship table.

Goals either side of half time from Kenny Miller and Barrie McKay were enough to see off the challenge of a spirited ‘Ton side, and Mark Warburton’s boys even had to overcome a quite baffling red card for Andy Halliday to play the last 18 minutes with 10-men. READ FULL REPORT

Fellow Bears, remember NOT to disappoint the Morton Chairman.

I am taking a 1964 Vespa scooter, I am going to set it aflame, before launching it into the Morton support. Bottles, spiked golf balls, and pieces of pie are not enough. I hear someone has bought an extending cable to attach to a toaster before launching.
