...as UEFA grant special dispensation to English FA for Arsenal clash

THE match between Hull and Arsenal is to be shown live on TV despite a clash with the Champions League.

A SCOTTISH Cup TV blackout could have been avoided after UEFA awarded special dispensation for the FA Cup replay between Hull and Arsenal to be shown tonight.

The Scottish Cup fifth round replays between Hearts and Hibs and Rangers and Kilmarnock weren't shown live on TV due to UEFA rules blocking fixtures from being shown at the same time as the Champions League.

But down in England, the FA have been allowed to show Arsenal's trip to Hull in an FA Cup replay despite the clash with Real Madrid v Roma and Wolfsburg v Gent.

The match is to be shown with an earlier kick-off time of 7pm, meaning that the fixtures will only clash during the second half of Arsenal's trip to the KC Stadium.

UEFA had requested the match start at 5:45pm, but after discussions with the FA agreed on a 7pm kick-off.

In a statement the FA said: “We would like to thank UEFA for taking the time it has to understand our position on this matter.

"Fixture scheduling is an issue for the whole game so let’s build upon the productive conversations we have held with the Premier League and Football League and call upon UEFA to join the discussion to create clear, workable guidelines for the benefit of all.

"This will help our teams in the pursuit for trophies; enable fans to fully enjoy and access all the matches their teams participate in and allow broadcast partners to maximise the TV rights they have purchased."

Record Sport Online have contacted the SFA for comment and we are awaiting a response.

Typical sfa incompetence

This is another example of incompetence by these idiots, yet they rake in millions in wages personally, stealing money out of Scottish football, and yet every club just sits back and allows this to happen, shocking!

SFA knew they could do this, but as some of the broadcast fee would have gone to Rangers, Hibs, Hearts & Killie (if both replays were shown) and not to the only team they are there to look after, then they couldnt be arsed picking up the phone to UEFA to get this overturned.

Of course if our (n)ever-reliant media had been on the ball, they could have put more pressure on the SFA at the appropriate time. Amateurs in charge all over the place, no wonder the game is in the grubber.

We will never know, but I suspect if The Filth had been involved in a replay against any of the 4 who were, the game would have been shown live with an earlier KO time. Liewell would have made sure of that.

I think the main driver in this is the amount of clout that TV has over the English game. there is a strong possibility that the Arsenal match may command more revenue than the other matches.

TV companies pay absolute peanuts to the Scottish game, so the above won't be an issue for them, regardless of who's playing.
