Waghorn out for 6 weeks

Recommended Posts

I see James Doleman is reporting that Waggy is injured because of repetative penalty injury.

What a maggot.

Nailing his colours to the mast.

Repetitive penalties will happen when a team bludgeons their opponents with possession and incision.

KILMARNOCK tonight furiously hit back at Rangers after the Ibrox club blamed Rugby Park's plastic pitch for striker Martyn Waghorn's injury.

The Ibrox club released a statement earlier today announcing that Waghorn would not require surgery but stated that the "unforgiving Rugby Park surface resulted in bruising and lacerations which were immediately visible."

This wording left the Ayrshire club furious and Killie club secretary and former Chairman Michael Johnston has since contacted Rangers to request the phrase "unforgiving" is removed from the statement.

Talking in an interview on the STV website, Johnston said: "It’s disappointing the official Rangers website would carry such an ill-informed comment.

"The 3G pitch at Rugby Park is not only FIFA 2 star compliant, but also meets the higher standards set by international rugby. We have already hosted the world’s first full rugby international played on a synthetic pitch (Scotland v Tonga, November 2014).

"In January, we hosted Europe’s top club side in Racing 92 in their match with Glasgow Warriors and tomorrow evening we are hosting the Guinness PRO12 match between Warriors and Munster.

"Clearly there is far more physical contact with the 3G pitch during a rugby match and no player has sustained any injury related to the surface. The IRB require additional shock absorbency and impact protection beyond the requirements for football so the pitch at Rugby Park represents the most forgiving playing surface in Scottish professional football.

"My immediate reaction was the author of the article didn't know what they were talking about and this is the sort of ill-informed remark that people tend to make about synthetic pitches without checking the facts.

"We have endeavoured to contact the chief executive of Rangers and are waiting to have the critical remark removed and we’re currently awaiting a response."

Where did Rangers state that the (internal) injury to the knee was caused by the pitch? They stated that the "unforgiving Rugby Park surface resulted in bruising and lacerations which were immediately visible."

What's wrong with that? Anyone who goes down on an artificial pitch is likely to suffer bruising and lacerations. 100% accurate in my opinion (and experience).

Lifted from FF:

From Press Conference on SSN......

"Down in London today with medical team, seeing a Specialist.

Probably out for a few weeks. Not sure how long, but no surgery required.

He's had a scan. No ligament damage.

There is no doubt in our mind from a coaching perspective and a medical perspective, that his injury wouldn't have been of this nature, if it hadn't been for the pitch."

Had that been on grass, he wouldn't have had the same nature of injury that he has now. That's just a simple fact.

It's backed up by our medical team, a very proficient medical team and by our coaching staff, who saw the initial impact of the injury."

And "we" might even have included the weather conditions in the meaning of the statement as well. But the media vultures fall on such words and present it as if hell has broken lose about it. And cue a few snyde remarks in the coming weeks if no-one who plays Killie there gets injured.

We should simply ignore it, fans and club alike.

"MARK WARBURTON has admitted Martyn Waghorn's season could be over as he called for plastic pitches to be BANNED in the top flight.

The Rangers boss spoke out after his star striker picked up an injury at Kilmarnock that will rock the Gers’ glory bids.

Twenty-eight goal Waghorn went off immediately after winning and scoring a fourth-minute penalty before the Championship leaders went on to win 2-1 in their William Hill Scottish Cup fifth-round replay on Tuesday.

And Warburton said: "He is seeing a specialist today in London to get a more detailed report.

"There is no surgery required which is most pleasing. Hopefully he will be back for the end of the season, but there is a possibility he won't, it depends how his recovery progresses."

What exactly is the injury Waghorn has? I've read he has 'no ligament damage', and that it's 'lacerations' ...?

To keep him out for 6 weeks or even possibly the rest of the season suggests the injury is akin to being slashed with a sharp knife!

If that's what plastic surfaces can do to you, then BAN them as Warburton says....oh,...and feck rugby!
