Really poor support from the RST

Recommended Posts

We actually changed the website about a year ago and paid a lot of money for it. I agree with you though, it's crap. We were promised something that was all singing, all dancing. It's really disappointing and included an e-mail address that was going to nobody. We would do something about it but with the new fans group proposal it's probably not worth it. BTW our membership number haven't gone down.

Obviously I am not going to take an opposite position to yourself PLG's. You are in the perfect position to know about membership numbers. One thing I will say though, of the dozen or so close friends who joined along me with me I am the only one still standing.

Their website says 6250 members. That's roughly 3 times the pre Administration level.

Obviously, if you're collecting subs from members of the public, your systems and processes have to be able to cope with routine requests like SBS', so his experience is very disappointing. However, we should never lose sight of the outstanding work the RST did to galvanise the wider support and help force regime change.

IMHO, if any Rangers related organisation deserves a bit of patience and understanding, it's the Trust.

They may have 6,250 members which is probably 5/6 times what they had in 2010/11 but I don't think they have anyhting like that number paying monthly into Buy Rangers.

You're probably correct BH, but I quoted that figure in response to Boabie's assertion that there had been a fall in the RST's membership, when in fact it has grown significantly.

I agree that the RST are to be congratulated on a large increase in numbers just as RF have gone from a standing start to almost 14,000.

Together they would appear to have some 20,000 members but allowing for overlap perhaps 17,000 - 18,000 and combined I understand that they have more than 5% of the shares, which is a very strong foundation.

I just think it's unfortunate that the RST won't disclose how many members are actually contributing to the BR scheme. If they were to do so it would be easier to estimate if a 25% shareholding was a realistic objective for the combined share buying entity.

Irrespective of the precise numbers of regular contributors, the RST were pretty successful at increasing their shareholding in the past 18months.

They've generated funds and share transfers in a variety of ways, so they may feel that simply quoting a number for regular contributors would understate their overall potential.

Transparency is great, eh?

That word has become very transparent amongst Rangers fans of late :)

I've asked this question here and elswhere on several occasions over the past 2 years and all one ever gets is obfuscation of the type put out by Bearman; at least plgsarmy just says she's not telling.

Perhaps if we ply her with enough drink at the dinner she'll give up this big secret

It'll all be academic once the Rangers fan groups are operating in perfect unison, each with their own specific areas of responsibility...[emoji6]
