@ASFCofficial @TomBarclay_SUN @BumbleCricket from end of season. This is unsolicited and is being done under FIFA international regs 2/3

Rangers beat Arsenal to the signature of Accrington Stanley whizkids Josh Windass and Matt Crooks

RANGERS have made their move to sign Accrington whizkids Josh Windass and Matt Crooks — beating Arsenal to the punch in the process.

The pair are out of contract in the summer but because they are under 24, Stanley would be entitled to a decent amount compensation if they leave for another English club.

However, because Rangers play north of the border, they will be able to pinch the duo for peanuts at the end of the season.

Gers exposing the Fifa loophole has left Accrington chiefs raging but powerless to stop the switches.

The Scottish giants are now in talks with both players and hope to have a deal in place for the summer.

Windass, 21 and son of Hull hero Dean, has banged in 11 goals this campaign while Leeds-born Crooks — also 21 — has weighed in with seven goals.

Both players are being eyed by a host of other clubs too — with top end Championship sides considering pouncing for Windass.

These lads seem highly thought of though.

Are we now shopping for players in the same places as Hertz, Hibz, Aberdeen etc ???

If so we won't be mounting much of a challenge next season if we're back in the top division will we?

I actually think that the short-term deals make a lot of sense....providing there is some clause allowing it to be extended.

We all know that there are very few "big name" moves in the Jan window. By offering initial 6-month deal, it gives MW time to give the players a right good going over. If they work out, a new longer term contract is offered & we're sorted. However, if they don't work out, their out the door at the end of the season, and not lurking around Auchinhowie claiming a wage for the next 2.5 years.

It's working smart, and that's exactly what we need. We simply can't throw money at players, hoping that they do the job.

Not being confident enough in a players ability to offer longer than a 6 month contract is now deemed as smart business? Smart business is getting a player in who's ability merits more than we paid and getting him tied down so we make a return after he has benefited the club. Guess that sums up how bad our signings have been the last few years when only being stuck with mediocre player for 6 months merits a high five!

Wonder if we will offer money to get the two from accrington in early after the pre agreements are signed? I would deem that as smart business as it puts accrington over a barrel

Warbs didnt say we would be challenging for the title next season. He said his goal is European football within 3 years. King said we should be challenging for the title next season, which really doesnt mean anything. It is hard to attract big players when we essentially have nothing to offer them, we want them to come play in a shit league with morons who want to try break skilled players ankles in the first 12 seconds of a game and receive no protection or help from officials while the media whoop and cheer these thugs. Warburton has made it clear he wants players for the future, ones that can play comfortably in Scotland and, if needed, be sold on for a profit to keep the club healthy. What do we sell these guy on, the potential of an old firm game? Yeah, that would entice any player to sign, playing against a mob who have embarrassed themselves in Europe at every turn.

The standard in Scotland, at every level, is fucking shit. We cannot pay massive wages for players who do not want to be here or contend with the standard of football elsewhere. We are looking to build for the future. Be patient or be quiet.

Z

Will they be good enough?

On the fence with these ones. Not exactly excited but also not overly upset bit meehhh to be honest.

If a deal is to be done would like to see it happen this month to help with promotion push rather than save a couple hundred grand by waiting
