Rangers tax case - Scottish football to self-harm again?

Recommended Posts

Err,i was meaning cash for themselves. They are in a no loose situation, short of setting up their own printing press, they have it made.

Cashing in on misery,Vultures.Sorry, thats my take.

Hardly vultures. Someone has to handle a liquidation and it is more than clear that the complexities of our Club dictate it couldn't be done in house - in fact, I think the D&P fiasco is proof positive that the courts should have ruled in favor of HMRC when they attempted to prevent Whyte from appointing his own administrators.

A liquidation can be very simple (I have sadly had to handle one myself) but they still almost exclusively involve a liquidator to finalise the process. When they are as complex as ours you really should be looking for a renowned firm, which is what BDO are - along with KPMG I personally believe they have the best insolvency/liquidation practice in the UK.

Doesn't quite answer your suggestion of them being vultures - but they are hardly being vultures by doing their job. You think BDO only handle insolvency events ? They also are a mid-upper tier audit firm in the UK and have a global reach. So they are hardly circling over the carcass of mortally wounded companies.

Fair enough,i was talking in more general terms. It doesnt matter what the outcome is,the longer this runs the more cash they will make.

Not exactly incentive based employment is it.Quite the opposite i would suggest.

You would be surprised. The liquidation I handled was very simple by comparison to RFC's liquidation - and it still took almost 3 years to get the job done.

Remember, it wont be the case that if this takes 1 yr they make 1 million, or 3 years and they make 3 million. Their fees are based on their charge-out rates and they will want to get in, get the liquidation sorted, make the final dividend payments, and get out - they will have plenty other jobs waiting for them - so I doubt (though couldn't confirm) that they are sitting on their hands just milking money out of RFC. Remember, they also have a reputation to uphold, one of getting the best value for creditors that they can - so they will want to, in every liquidation, be seen to be efficient.

Whilst mentioning the one that I had to do took 3 years it also reminded me that my company are still receiving small dividend cheques from a liquidation that took place in the 1990's.......

They are all falling into line to stick the boot in again it will be cups and titles first then the powers that be will want to dish out more fines , and here is me an old man who thought the ruling bodies were in place to help and protect their members .

It is a sickening rerun of previous attempts to mug/kill us. I hate everything about Scottish football, I dread every morning again. I grew up adoring Scotland and Scottish football. It's frankly unbelievable that I will end my days despising the place and the football, unbelievable but also undeniable.

I don't dread it at all. They have kicked us whilst we were down, tried to kill us even. But we still remain. They can take the titles, they can take the cups. But our Club has finally, after years of total mis-management (financial, footballing, business plan, marketing etc) we seem to be actually making progress, with people running the Club with its best interests at heart, and a football manager who has very quickly understood what TRUE integrity means. A manager who oozes class, dignity and respect - someone worthy of the blazer and tie - and his team is playing like a Rangers team too.

There is much to be pleased about right now - a long road ahead granted, but much to be happy about.... lest we forget that 3 years ago we all woke up with the news that we may no longer have a team to support, at least not THE RANGERS. Well, we do still have that team to support.

And know what ?? Even if they take the titles... we will still come back stronger and overturn any deficit.... but every title stripped from us will remain as an asterisk to any team that are given that title in our stead (if that is what they do). I don't want to see titles stripped from us, but I wont lose sleep over it - we will be back in our rightful place as Scotland's best soon enough - and that is a great deal to look forward to.

We should all be proud of the loyalty we have shown in the face of adversity. We should be proud that we stood by the Club whilst others tried to kill us, whilst others have taunted, teased and been malicious towards our Club. They are starting to fear us again. And I for one like how that feels.

Onwards and upwards for me.

In fact the Rangers Supporters Trust spent several years from 2003 decrying Murray’s methods while being mocked by the same sections of the media suggesting more punishment now.

And prior to the formation of the Trust Frankie, there were plenty of us decrying various aspects of Murray's stewardship - while often being mocked by some within our own support.

Mate-just in case you hadn't noticed-the Tims have absolutely no problem with celebrating tainted and asterisk honours. There's also the little matter of us as a club having done nothing wrong, even in the estimations of their own tribunaral.Adding much insult to injury is the fact that this hate fest has been driven by Scottish football's Penn State, and our own chairman just wants to simply draw a line under it all.No complaints about the people now in the dug out and on the park, but huge misgivings about the current board.Winning on the park is all very nice and everything, but it counts for little when you're losing off it.A lesson I would have thought every bear had learned by now.

Did you actually read the statement ? The statement said they wanted to draw a line under it all and that the trophies we have won isn't up for debate. They are hardly saying "take whatever titles you want", quite the opposite in fact.
