RANGERS have snapped up Scotland Under-16 captain Jack Adamson – and are set to hand him a dream debut against Celtic this weekend.

The left-sided player put pen-to-paper on a one-year deal with the Glasgow giants this week after spending four seasons with Hibs.

The 16-year-old was interesting a number of English Premier League clubs and represented Stoke City at a youth tournament in Germany this summer.

However, Adamson had no hesitation in agreeing to move to the Gers when the high-flying Championship club made an approach for him.

He said: “To be offered the opportunity to sign and play for Rangers at the age of 16 is a very proud moment for me and my family. I am thrilled.”

The youngster, who skippered his country in the Victory Shield last year, paid tribute to Hibs for the role the Easter Road club have played in his football career.

He added: “I will always be grateful to the coaching staff at Hibernian Academy particularly in my earlier years as they were key to my football development.”

Adamson, who hails from Linlithgow, will make his debut for the Ibrox club in the under-17 match against Celtic at Lennoxtown on Sunday.

Adamson is represented by Viola FC and their Head of Youth Elliott Fillingham believes he will progress as a player working at Auchenhowie.

He said: “We are delighted for Jack and his family on his move to Rangers. We believe the football philosophy at the academy at Rangers will compliment Jack’s strengths well.

“We are excited about the next chapter of his learning and development as he progresses towards the first team”

Viola FC supremo John Viola said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for a very talented young player and we look forward to working with him over the next few years of his development.”

It must be very frustrating for a club to bring a player through from 12 to16 and then see him disappear to their opponents. Did we not lose a player to Celtic recently?

Not too concerned about seeing the back of him.

McGeouch was none too pleased to be used as a makeweight in the Scott Allan deal.

McGeouch feels that he's a better player than Scott Allen and scored more goals and had more assists last season than Allen.
