Competition: Win a DVD copy of 'Shooting for Socrates'

Recommended Posts

Rangers' legendary player, Jimmy Nicholl, was not only a fine player at Ibrox, but also represented his country Northern Ireland in the 1986 World Cup held in Mexico.

'Shooting for Socrates', starring John Hannah, Conleth Hill, Richard Dormer and Nico Mirallegro, is a comedy drama about the story behind the team’s David and Goliath battle against Brazil at the competition.

Set at the height of the Troubles, the film – from Oscar-winning producer Victoria Gregory ('Senna', 'Man on Wire') and Emmy-nominated director James Erskine (Building Jerusalem, The Battle of the Sexes) – is a testament to the power of football to unite even the most divided peoples.

The film was released in cinemas earlier this year, Total Film gave it 4* and the film bible Sight and Sound called it “priceless stuff” - it’s out on DVD on 5th October and New Black Films would like to give Gersnet readers the chance to win a copy of the DVD.
