Laudrup interview

Recommended Posts

As much as I enjoy watching the current team, and they are playing some very nice football, what wouldn't I give to see a talent like this in the Blue shirt again? I remember going to Hampden to watch an Old Firm legends game several years ago now. Ended in a draw but the skill and talent Brian still had was unbelievable! Some fantastic memories!

Its a debate for generations but from my point of view he is the best player to wear the Blue Jersey and to grace Scottish Football. Gascoigne was immense on his day, De Boer a class act and you have to say Larsson was world class but Laudrup pips them all for me.

Im going looking at it from early 90s when Id appreciate a player although did start watching the game mid 80s as a wee lad.

Certainly no where near the best talents I have seen. Out of Scotland he was a pretty mediocre player to be honest. I suppose it is a generation thing as well. I will also admit to not seeing a lot of Rangers in that era though, as I did not have the medium that I have now. I probably saw far more of him playing in Germany and Holland.

It's certainly one hell of debate. Best player in Scotland, so many to choose from. Gazza, de Boer, Larsson great shouts. Goram, Klos, (dare I say it...) Ally. Older fans would likely include Baxter and Greig etc. But whatever list you compile, Laudrup has to be up there, and close to the top. Even the most militant Celtic fan would have to include him (secretly at least!) in much the same way that any sane Bear would include Larsson. There are players who cross cross the divide and remind us what a great player looks like. Laudrup certainty was one of those!
