Rangers defender Rob Kiernan was grateful to clear up an inaccuracy.

Rangers defender Rob Kiernan has thanked newspaper the Daily Record for clearing up an inaccuracy in a previous copy of their printed paper.

He sent a message on Twitter, picturing the clarification, after a misprint had quoted him wrongly.

The Record confirmed that Kiernan did not in fact say he felt Rangers could score 25 goals in a match.

Kiernan had instead said they would be capable of creating 25 chances.

Rangers funnily enough looked as if they could be capable of scoring 25 goals last night, easily dispatching Airdrieonians in the Scottish League Cup, winning 5-0 away from home.

Kiernan had a comfortable night in defence, watching on as his side dominated possession, recording 72 per cent - and had a total of 18 shots at goal, nine of which were on target.

There was one particularly witty response from a Rangers fan to Kiernan's tweet, with a fan taking a pop at Celtic's Champions League exit by asking if Ronny Deila's vow they would beat Malmo was also a newspaper error.
