Rangers set to send Andy Murdoch out on loan in bid for first team football

By Gordon Waddell

THE young midfielder was a standout under Stuart McCall last season but has yet to feature under Mark Warburton and the Ibrox boss feels it would be best for Murdoch out on loan.

The teenage midfielder emerged last season but has yet to feature this term and the manager believes he needs games, not a seat in the Ibrox dugout.

He said: “Young players need to step away to keep developing their careers. Everyone talks about the kudos of getting on the bench but how many minutes do you play? None. Or maybe three minutes. It doesn’t do anything for you.

“Why are the Spurs guys here? They could stay with the Spurs first team and not bother but they wouldn’t get better as players.

“So we have to send some of our young players out and make sure they get challenged appropriately.

“That’ll definitely be happening. There’s no point in players being comfortable in the Under-20s, they need to be out playing for three points, being challenged.

”Andy will definitely do that. He’s a talented player but he has to be better than Andy Halliday, Nicky Law, Jason Holt, Tom Walsh and Dean Shiels. Right now he’s not at their level. So he has to go out and develop and become a better player for it.”

Hopefully we hold out and get him a loan deal to a decent club in a league no lower than our own rather than sending him out to lower divisions. Sending Ryan Sinnamon out to Falkirk for example, is a good deal for the lad and that's the sort of deal Andy Murdoch deserves.

Just think what murdoch would be like.

We could debate all day about players!,ultimately Warburton knows what he is doing so if he thinks that is best for him then I will leave it up to the manager.
