Gers To Train At Spurs

Recommended Posts

RANGERS will continue their build up to the new season by visiting Tottenham Hotspur's training ground next Friday.

Mark Warburton's side have been back in training since last Saturday and are working towards the first competitive game of the season in the Petrofac Training Cup on July 25 at Easter Road.

The Light Blues will make the trip to London at the end of next week for a series of coaching sessions at the Tottenham Hotspur Training Centre.

Built on 77 acres and located on Hotspur Way, Enfield, the training complex is the home of the Club's First Team and Academy and is recognised as one of the best in Europe.

The state-of-the-art facility includes a covered artificial pitch, world-class player preparation areas, pool and hydrotherapy complex, altitude room, large-scale gymnasium and a specialist sports rehabilitation suite.

All training will be strictly behind closed doors next Friday and fans should not travel. Supporters will be able to see the new-look Gers for the first time on July 21 as Warburton's men welcome Burnley to Ibrox.

I saw this article earlier and it smells distinctly like a closed doors friendly which is being put across as something different to keep it hush hush.

Harry Winks?.....................

Harry Winks?.....................

Not sure mate, but a wee closed doors friendly against the Spurs U21 team would certainly be a good way to check him out up close.

There's something about how Warburton is going about his job that smacks of professionalism to me. Cant put a finger on it, but I'm feeling very hopeful.

I can put my finger on it. Taking the Rangers squad down to London to train and/or play a wee hush hush closed doors friendly at Spurs training ground is more professional in terms of pre-season preparation than a golfing jolly up to the highlands.

Under 20s type game with any older players needing looked at re fitness thrown in, and Harry Winks looked at perhaps, is my take on it and they want to discourage anyone trying to go. I had already enquired about doing so but best to leave them in peace.

It's good to have a manager who has contacts and wants to build relationships with top class clubs this will greatly improve our squad the rangers reputation and give MW and DW credentials another boost.

Come on now, its only Spurs, if we was training at Arsenal Id let you away with that :)

But its a good idea from MW, pretty sure it will extend with an invite for Spurs to train at murray park if they require in the future and there is no harm building relationships with such clubs.

As mentioned a closed doors game Versus someone there beats a jolly up to the highlands.

Spurs midfielder set to play for another club on Friday ahead of possible move

Winks to train with Rangers.

Harry Winks signed a new deal with Spurs on Friday, which will see him remain at the Lane until 2018 with the option of a further additional year, but the 19-year-old playmaker is likely to spend next season on loan elsewhere.

Winks made his first team debut, a 3-minute cameo in the Europa League victory against FK Partizan, last season, before impressing on the post-season trip to Malaysia and Australia. He’s obviously highly-rated by Mauricio Pochettino but he would benefit from a season of competitive senior football.

Scottish championship club Rangers have been linked with a season-long loan move for Winks and the Ibrox club, now managed by former Brentford boss Mark Warburton, are due to visit Spurs’ training centre on Friday, with Winks set to play for them in a friendly.

Warburton worked wonders with Alex Pritchard last season at Griffin Park and he is clearly trusted by Spurs. If he could improve Winks in the same way he improved Pritch, everyone’s a winner. What’s more, Rangers remain a huge club with a passionate fan base, and a loan move to Ibrox would see Winks play in front of 50k people every other week in a high-pressure environment where winning is everything. That’ll be great experience.

On the downside, Rangers play football in the second tier of Scotland and the level in the Scottish Championship is largely poor. There are going to be plenty of games that Rangers coast through next season in second gear and it might be more beneficial for Spurs to find a struggling League One or even English Championship club for Winks to join.
