Ser Barristan Selmy 222
Admin - could you introduce a button for "I agree with 5/8 of that"? I could use it a lot with SBS. He was doing fine above until he said So'ton weren't a good side. I said they are not a great side . They are decent as far as the Premiership goes but I doubt they will do that well in the Europa League next season.

craig 5,199
Tyrone Mings has joined Bournemouth for £8 million and he was playing non league football not long ago. The money some of these small English clubs have is just ridiculous. IT's fake wealth though, they spread it around each other, often completely wasting it and ending up with mediocre teams. One of these days one of these wee teams is going to look at all the huge revenue they are getting and instead of spending huge sums on mediocre English players, they will bring in top foreign coaches and scouts. Develop a sustainable infrastructure and get value for money with continental players. Perhaps Southampton did it to a small extent though really their team isn't that great. The Premiership is such a mess though - outwith the top few you have these mid table teams like West Ham and Stoke spending huge, huge sums of money and having absolutely awful teams, compared to other big leagues. Southampton have an excellent Academy and have been a conveyor belt of talent. They spend SOME money but never spunk their load on players. Look at the team they COULD have had with some of the guys that have come through their Academy and team in recent years : Walcott, Bale, Shaw, Ramsay, Schneiderlein, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana - that is 7 players who have went onto bigger teams and done fairly well (Schneiderlein is likely to end up at Man U). I think their Academy is fantastic in all honesty - but they will always remain a selling Club which means they wont compete for honors - but they certainly should have plenty of cash in the bank to ensure their longevity. I think Swansea also did fairly well by not spending a ton of money but having a philosophy and ensuring that every team in the program followed the philosophy. As for Tyrone Mings - I have never even heard of the guy - 8 million should be able to buy you a BPL quality player - Bournemouth better hope he can make that step up because that is a lot of money to be spending on a Championship player. Bournemouth were my "local" team for the 1st 11 years of life Edited June 30, 2015 by craig

Premiership is rugby or the Scottish League.

Gribz 828
Manchester City have the restrictions lifted concerning their transfer spending and CL squad size. They can go out and blow mad money on Pogba now. It does seem a bit inverted that Man City have restrictions yet the money spent is pocket change for the owners but Man Utd don't have restrictions but have a (manageable) 9 figure debt.

Aye, it's nuts. UEFA have watered down the rules now to encourage investment, so it's now a case of 'as you were'. Pointless exercise.
