Manager - Preparation is Key

Recommended Posts

MARK WARBURTON believes his Rangers players will need to be at the top of their game week in, week out if the club is to enjoy a successful season in the Scottish Championship.

Speaking after the 2015/16 fixtures were announced at noon today, the new Light Blues boss is looking forward to the league games starting in August with Rangers facing St Mirren and Hibs at home and Alloa Athletic and Queen of the South away.

It is a tricky start for the Ibrox men but Warburton always expected this to be the case as he has respect for every side in the Championship and indeed the Scottish game.

He said: "It is a exciting start for us with the first two home games being against St Mirren and Hibs.

"It's two great games, two very intriguing fixtures, and obviously we are looking forward to them.

"It's the start of a very important season and we're relishing the challenge.

"The St Mirren game, of course, is an interesting one on the opening day of the league season.

“They also have a new manager and have just dropped down from the Premiership so that’s a fixture we will need to get prepared for, but it will be the same for them all.

"I've got to be honest and say that when you look at the Scottish Championship it's very difficult to categorise games in terms of how difficult they will be.

"The fact is we need to go into every game as best prepared as we possibly can and looking to deliver the best performance we can.

"At Rangers we will never go into a game talking about this being a weaker team, far from it.

“As I say, every game we go into we'll have to be prepared. If we don’t do that and we let our standards fall at any stage, we'll get hurt and that can't be allowed to happen."
