...as Celtic’s revenue dips.

BUT financial analysts Deloitte predict better days ahead now Ladbrokes have signed sponsorship deal.

THE Scottish Premiership suffered an £11million hit in revenue during season 2013-14, it can be revealed.

Financial analysts Deloitte released the figures as it was announced EPL clubs achieved record profits – soaring by 29 per cent to £3.26billion.

But it’s gloomier news north of the border, with the numbers largely down to Celtic’s £11m drop in total revenue due to poorer records in cup competitions.

The figures relate to the season before last – the first campaign as the rebranded SPFL Premiership – with the top flight enduring an 11 per cent drop in revenue.

The Hoops accounted for more than half of both the total revenue and total wage costs of the top-tier outfits.

They generated £64m in revenue that season, compared with less than £6m on average for the other 11 clubs.

However, on a brighter note Deloitte predicted more postive times ahead. The SPFL recently signed a four-year deal with Ladbrokers to make them their title sponsor – our league’s first one in two years.

The deal is worth around £4m.
