Latest Scottish football league reconstruction plan will be welcomed by all fans

How do you decide what number of clubs is too many?

You just need to look at attendances at games in the bottom two divisions to see these clubs are senior clubs in name only.

They should join the juniors and amateurs

No definitely not. Who's going to make the decision and then tell 20 or 22 historic Scottish football clubs that they're no longer welcome in the Scottish Professional Football Leagues? That's just crazy. These historic wee clubs in the lower leagues need our help, not a kick in the bollocks and told to GTF because they're not wanted.

No one is saying they're not wanted. They simply do not belong in a professional league set up. They should join the juniors & amateurs

I think that attendance is a silly criterion but we can leave that aside.

I'm not sure what difference it makes for them to play in the amateur/junior leagues. The only advantage that I can imagine is that, if I'm not mistaken, those leagues are regional. What else?

Some sort of regional leagues would be better for them surely?

Does it make sense to have Annan Athletic and Elgin City in the same league? The financial cost of the travel must be exorbitant for these wee clubs

This is an even weirder subject than Gordon Smith's wacky league reconstruction proposal. Who gets to decide if some of the historic old clubs who helped start Scottish football should go down to the regional senior non-league divisions or the junior leagues? It's certainly not our decision to make and I'm struggling to think of anyone in Scottish football who should make such a decision outwith individual clubs themselves.

That or offer to merge them. There's far too many teams in Scotland.

If clubs want to merge that is their business not yours. Who the hell are you to tell one of these supporters who make up a 400/500/600 crowd that they can't go and enjoy watch their local team?

When we got our arse kicked by the SPL teams voting us out of their league, and then had to realise that we were at the mercy of the other small SFL clubs as to whether we got a licence to play or not, it doesn't look like you learned a lot about showing arrogance to those who prop up Scottish football.

I'll keep these smaller clubs because when we are at the top again and pulling all of Scottish football behind us, somewhere in those smaller clubs will be another Jimmy Baxter or Ian MacMillan.

F*ck, do you never learn that not all of Scottish football is Chelsea?
