FIGURES released for the financial year up to April 30, 2014 show the Rangers shareholder and Newcastle owner’s cash pile rocket from £256.4m.

MIKE ASHLEY’S company MASH Holding’s pre-tax profits have more than doubled to £542.6million, it can be revealed.

Figures released for the financial year up to April 30, 2014 show the Rangers shareholder and Newcastle owner’s cash pile rocket from £256.4m.

It’s the second successive year the Sports Direct billionaire’s profit has more than doubled.

The previous year had seen it rise from £130.6m up to £256.4m. Ashley is disliked by Newcastle supporters as much as he is at Ibrox.

He further enraged Rangers supporters when it was revealed last week he now owns the club’s crest and badges.

The new Rangers regime will have to repay the £5m loan he lent them to gain control of the intellectual property rights.Ashley’s Sports Direct empire also own 75 per cent of all Rangers retail.

He has a 100 per cent shareholding in MASH.

Now, for all what's worth ... do we all assume that Ashley casts more than a casual glance at us, given that he sure has much more profitble stuff going on each and every day?

On a sidenote, methinks that he's not the "owner" of Sports Direct as such, though still holds the majority shareholding (50odd percent) in that company. Didn't "we" cut ties with MASH when we drew the Sports Direct loan and all subsequent demands by MASH went of the table? Haven't got the exact wording of the SD deal here so can't verify this.

Not the owner but has a majority shareholding? Huh? He IS Sports Direct.

How about we deal with facts?

Mike Ashley is selling a 2.6% stake in Sports Direct, worth £117m, in a deal with US bank Goldman Sachs.

The sale of the 15.4m shares, which will reduce his total stake to 55%, is likely to fuel rumours that the Newcastle United owner is preparing to offer cash-strapped Scottish football team Rangers a £10m emergency loan.

Those people with the remaining 45% stakes will argue about "Ashley being SD". And no, I won't start debating words again. I take it that Ashley has his lapdogs doing his job while he is the majority owner. I would not argue about him being MASH though.
