The Northern Irish international joined the Gers on the last day of the January transfer window along with the four other players on loan from Newcastle but has been missing due to a knee injury.

Twenty-three year old Ferguson, who can play at full back or left midfield joined the rest of the Rangers squad for training this morning at Murray Park today.

RangersTV caught up with manager Stuart McCall before Ferguson’s first training session today.

He said: “I’ve not had a chance to see Shane yet, he is out on the training ground now so I am just about to go out and have a little chat with him.

“We’ll see how he trains and then have a bit more of an in depth chat with him afterwards and see where he is at both mentally and physically after being out for five months.”

“Whether he is involved this season depends on what level he is at.

“You get boys at different levels of natural fitness, sometimes you get lads who can get back on track quite quickly. If we think he is ready we will use him.

“The five boys from Newcastle have been entangled in a lot of stuff and it is not of their doing. “

Send him home

That's not the way loan deals work usually. As we have paid for his wages since January, and will probably do so till he leaves in June, we can just as well play him. While your general dislike for any of the Magpies is unerstandable, you can't blame McCall for not giving our youngsters a chance. Ferguson is not exactly taking up a slot that we have a youngster lined up for and people cry out for a decent left winger, while you have proposed Vuckic being used up front. So perhaps we give McCall and ourselves the chance to see the lad in flesh before reverting to the quite pointless tirades again, shall we?

Every minute he plays steals a minute from our youth.

Send him home to send a message to Ashley.

Send them all home and let the RFFF fund a court case if Ashley raises one for this con.

You know yourself that this does not make much sense, but I cease debate as you seem firmly entrenched with your views.

It makes perfect sense.

At least very much the first part.

Whether we can win a court case over the con is of course debatable. Probably not but send them home regardless let Newcastle feed and house them.
