The 3rd Semi Annual Gersnet Dinner with Guest, Rangers Historian, Robert McElroy

Recommended Posts

Looking back on some of the things I've said about this along the way

It seems to me, therefore that we should plan for Saturday May 23, 2015, and either decide to hold the dinner on that date regardless; or be prepared to move it to any of the other dates depending on circumstances.

Therefore I declare that the 3rd Semi Annual Gersnet Dinner will be held in the Indian Brasserie at 5.00pm for 5.30pm on the 23rd of May 2015 (subject to Rangers finishing 2nd in the League and the date & time not being changed for TV!)

There is also the possibility that the Saturday games on the 16th or the 23rd of May could be moved to Sunday and the kick off time may well not be 3.00pm, in any event.

The intention was always to have the dinner when we were playing our first home game in the play-offs and with due respect to Steve (for whose generous comment see #57 above) I do think that the "right" decision here (if there is a right decision) is to move the dinner to Sunday the 17th of May at 5.30pm for 6.00pm.

I'll wait till 11.00pm tomorrow night to see if anyone is otherwise minded.

01/05/2015 INT EARNED £0.01 Balance £145.78

29/04/2015 Charltonman BGC Counter Credit £21.25 Balance £145.77

2x £10.75 = £21.25?

Was that by special arrangement with RAB who paid 25p extra? :D

So I make it we have 12 paid and commitments for 4 others as yet unpaid + speaker, so we really only need 3 more (net of any withdrawals) to get the restaurant to ourselves.

What a hassle this has all turned out for you, Alan.

My pal John is abroad the weekend before so he can't make it then either. I hope you get replacements for us - and the necessary numbers to take it up to 20 which I think would make a good night out a great one.

Thanks for that, but no worries, like you I knew this one was going to be especially difficult to arrange.

I am hopefull that once we finalise the date tonight some others who have been holding back or were simply unable to come on the 23rd, will sign up.

Barring objections later today, it looks like the 17th.

Reading through the thread again, obviously I got myself a bit confused:

Important Edit: 26 April 2015

Please note that if Rangers finish 3rd in the League and win the Play-Off Quarter Final the dinner will be moved to Saturday the 16th of May at 5.00pm for 5.30pm, again subject to date or kick off time changes imposed for TV.

Please note that if Rangers finish 3rd in the League and lose the Play-Off Quarter Final the dinner will be take place on the 23rd of May at 5.00pm for 5.30pm or later if there is a consensus to move the time as we would have no game.

I think what I meant to say was that:

Please note that if Rangers finish 3rd in the League the dinner will be moved to Saturday the 16th of May at 5.00pm for 5.30pm, again subject to date or kick off time changes imposed for TV.

The second statement was obviously nonsense because we wouldn't know whether we won or lost the Play-Off Quarter Final till the 16th of May!

So I guess what I meant was that if Rangers finish 3rd in the League there was an alternative of moving the dinner to the 23rd of May as we would have no game if we lost the the Play-Off Quarter Final or we could come back to Ibrox for the dinner after the away match in the Semi Final if we won the Play-Off Quarter Final.

Unfortunately the date means I will be unlikely to attend but I'm sure everyone will have a great time at what sounds like another superb evening. An amazing price as well to be honest - usually costs around that for the curry on its own!

Hopefully a change of date to the 17th may allow you to attend with a full squad.

I have tried to contact everyone who has paid and there have been no objections to the change of date and some positive comments above so I am changing the date of the dinner to to Sunday the 17th of May at 5.30pm for 6.00pm. (Away goals do not count double in the event of a tie on aggregate but) in the event of extra time, dinner time will go back to 6.00pm for 6.30pm.

Yes, this may be possible but may depend on one or two other factors which I'll try to clarify soonest.
