Newcastle fans launch bid to force Ashley out of Toon

Recommended Posts

NEWCASTLE fans have called on Mike Ashley to sell their club as pressure towards the Toon owner and discontent amongst the supporters continues to grow.

John Carver's side crashed to a derby defeat against Dick Advocaat's Sunderland on Sunday and are not yet safe from the Premier League relegation battle after another poor campaign in England's top flight.

Last month, Newcastle posted a £19million profit for the last financial year, but fans are furious about the levels of investment in the first team and decisions being made at the highest level at St James' Park.

Now, the group of supporters behind the 'Sack Pardew' movement have launched a website and are attempting to build momentum behind a campaign to force Ashley out of their club.

The billionaire became a target for Rangers' fans fury in the build-up to the EGM victory by Dave King, Paul Murray and John Gilligan last month that saw key Ashley allies Derek Llambias and Barry Leach removed from office.

Ashley remains a controversial figure in the Ibrox picture and Toon fans are eager to follow the Light Blues' lead and find a way to weaken his grasp on their club.

A statement on AshleyOut.com said: "In the early parts of his reign Mike Ashley very publicly "put the club up for sale", but in the end he got away with public posturing and asking for patience whilst the "takeover process" ran its course. The reality is he was never actually inclined to sell up.

"We urge Mike Ashley to put Newcastle United up for sale as soon as possible, in earnest this time, and in an open and transparent manner. We will not lie down until the objective to see him removed as owner of our beloved club has been achieved.

"We call upon all Newcastle United fans to support our campaign aimed at ending Mike Ashley's tenure. We are all being lied to and deceived in a cold and calculated fashion by Ashley and his people."

They are too deep in debt to him I believe. Thankfully King and co managed to stop him at Rangers before the damage got any worse. Although if he is still holding the Easdale share block then he is only about 14% from turning things around and could surprise us some day if King loses some support.
