Bilel Shows Racism Red Card

Written by Rangers Football Club

YOUNG people from schools and colleges across Scotland joined with major names from the world of Scottish football at Hampden Park on Thursday 19th March to celebrate diversity.

Each year Show Racism the Red Card Scotland runs a creative competition to ask young people to come up with a creative way of promoting our messages of anti-racism and anti-sectarianism.

Bilel Mohsni was at the 11th awards ceremony at Hampden Park and is a really great opportunity to show appreciation to the young people of Scotland for all their hard work and effort in making a stand against racism and sectarianism. The theme of this year’s competition was ‘Celebrating Diversity’.

Over 4000 young people across Scotland took part in this year’s competition with entrants coming from as far as Shetland to the Scottish Borders as well as schools in the central belt.

The competition sends a clear message that young people want Scotland to be a welcoming and multi-cultural society. The prizegiving is the highlight of the Scottish calendar in challenging racism and sectarianism.

Football clubs across Scotland continue to support Show Racism the Red Card by donating a variety of prizes for the winners. Players from a selection of football clubs attended the event to present prizes and meet the young people.

Bilel Mohsni said: “It is amazing the number of young people who have taken part in this competition. Their artwork is fantastic and really inspirational. This event has given me a real insight into the great work of Show Racism the Red card and it has been a pleasure to be part of it.”

Having the support of professional football clubs has a tremendously positive impact on young people participating in the Show Racism the Red Card campaign.

Vicki Burns, Show Racism the Red Card said: “The competition is now in its eleventh year and continues to be a highly successful and integral part of our Show Racism the Red Card campaign.

“I am amazed at how creative our young people can be in finding ways to get the anti-racism and anti-sectarianism messages across. Everyone participating in the competition should be congratulated for their inspirational work. The 4000 young people who took part in the competition are giving Scotland a clear message – the country they want to live in has no room for racism and sectarianism.”

Ms Burns added: “When you see the results of the competition - young people giving an emphatic “no,” to racism and sectarianism after using our resources in their classrooms – we see the real worth of encouraging people to think critically about myths and stereotypes and educating against prejudice. Recent events have shown we cannot become complacent about racism.”

Somewhere in Mohsni is a good player it has just not shown face yet. As some have said I would like to see him play a game in midfield.

He's nowhere near good enough regardless of what position he's played in.

That's my take on him too. Simply not good enough. Watching him trying to defend in just one game takes years off of your life.

Depends on your definition of ok mate. :D

I can't believe this, Mosni was outstanding today apart from 1 slip. he hit some super passes out of defence to set up attacks. I think Gunslinger's disease is spreading.

He does have a decent eye for a pass and we all love a trier, but I wouldn't class his performance today as outstanding, although that's obviously subjective.

The issue I have with him is that he repeatedly (at least once in almost every single game) makes the type of mistakes which can cost us points or in some cases, even lose us a match. He made one mistake today which very nearly cost us dearly and he made another afterwards which he only just managed to recover and no more, but he's just too accident prone for my liking. He also has a habit of terrible positioning when we're under attack and if someone gets past him, he's got no chance because he's slow as hell.

The first goal came from a pass from him and he cut out so many Hibs attacks. McCall is right if supporters were to pick a team we would have no players.
