McCall retains Promotion belief

Recommended Posts

its an old record but the third division was where these young lads should have been making their mistakes and getting the experience. in our current state it is hard for youngsters when the experienced guys are so woeful..

is there not lots of hardened old pros in the lower leagues. Would a bunch of youngsters have been able to compete with them ?

Can't put my finger on exactly why - but I'm just not convinced by McCall at all when he speaks.

Says all the right things, but I feel he lacks the substance behind it.

Would like him to prove me wrong, but I will take some convincing to be won over.

They were part timers in the bottom two divisions - as are teams like Alloa now. A team of Rangers 'youngsters' should have had little problem dealing with them. We have completely wasted a 3 year opportunity. McCoits overly cautious approach totally killed what should have been a really good and constructive journey for us. Look at the mess we're left with. Scandalous.

They may of struggled at times, but surely that's part of learning the job???

If we had persisted with more youngsters, they would have had a good deal of experience & more suited to the top leagues.....

Part time teams at the bottom of our league are giving everyone a battle MB.

Hibs only narrowly defeated Livingston 2-1 at Easter Road last week with a last minute header to take all 3 points and a couple of weeks before that they only narrowly won 0-1 at Recreation Park thanks to a Scott Allan free-kick midway through the first half.

Those two teams have managed a draw against us this week, but it's been a very fine line between dropping points and winning the games.

My feeling is this, if we had played the young guys in divs 4 & 3 the better ones would have been sold off by the old board just like they did with Lewis. Andy Murdoch and Tom Walsh would have been gone by now I reckon.

I get what you are saying.

But just look at the examples of Walsh and Murdoch - more than capabale of holding their own. If we had properly 'given youth a chance' over the past few years I feel it would have given the team and support a new energy - and hope.

Instead, we have a team of lazy, unfit, unenergetic players who will all have to be booted out at the end of the season so we can start again.

Our 'start again' period should have been done properly 3 years ago. Initially there were a few youngsters who got a chance, but Ally soon put a halt to that and brought in the current shower.

What a waste.

I'm not talking about 11 kids. Half that with the right experienced pros and we should have pissed all over the lower divisions the way hearts have pissed all over the championship...

It is a sad indictment of where we are when we look at Hibs results to justify why we dropped points to Livvy :P

We are still a shambles. It CAN be corrected with the right appointment though, and fairly quickly too.
