Will the RST get a new rep on the Rangers board following Chris Graham's resignation?

Nice attempt at a body swerve there, but what about the question I asked. Here goes again - OK what would you have done if you were the board at this juncture of the season. Kept McDowall? If not who would you have gone for less than a week after taking control?

On the subject of Smith being offered it first - did I miss that? Where did you see that?

STUART McCALL is poised to become the new Rangers manager.

SunSport understands the former Ibrox star could be confirmed on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

It’s believed McCall was approached after Walter Smith turned down the chance to return to Gers.

The Ibrox icon was offered the same role until the end of the current campaign, but decided against it.

Bookmakers have now suspended betting on McCall returning to Ibrox.

We can also reveal McCall has pulled out of his TV duties with BT Sport on Friday night.

McCall was meant to be at Pittodrie as a summariser for Aberdeen's clash with Motherwell, but backed out earlier today - fuelling rumours of a Gers return.

The new Rangers regime – led by Dave King – has decided to act following Tuesday night’s dismal 1-1 draw with Queen of the South.

McDowall – who has been performing caretaker duties since Ally McCoist was put on gardening leave - has won just one of his seven games in charge.

McCall – who won five league titles, three Scottish Cups and two League Cups as a player – would prove a popular appointment with Rangers fans.

It's believed he's not yet accepted the job.

Gers are third in the Championship and are facing a fight to reach the SPFL via the play-offs.

The Smith thing is speculation - I don't doubt someone probably on our board asked if he was interested but I doubt he was offered the position and turned it down.

The Sun says "It’s believed that" :D:D It must be true then. I will keep you to your belief in all things the Sun spouts over the coming months, and all the things Dave King is going to do for us. Will you believe them? It will be interesting.

That second paragraph is pretty clear.

Of course newspapers don't always get things right, and they even fabricate things from time to time, but given the choice about who to take more seriously - you or Sunsport - it's not really a contest.

I'm going to have to go with the gutter rag.

:o:o:o Meeeeooowww!!! You and Babycham don't go well together. This is going to be fun as I said last night, seeing as you believe all you read in the Sun (especially "we believe....." or "our sources tell us......"). Lets see how consistent you are with that stance.:P

Honestly, they would have to double-check on any fan representatives twitter/e-mail/public & social media history now before appointing one. I would assume the board has much more pressing problems at hand these days. They should instead ask the main supporters groups to agree on a representative and have a meeting with those on a monthly basis. At least for the time being. Maybe they can revive the RFB for those not willinging to interact with the various supporters groups as well.

If the RST board was running the club I'd have hammered it for its limited outlook on appointing a new manager.

There is no point in pretending that the board is right when it is clearly so wrong.

I am sure factors such as, availability, cost, fit with Rangers, ability to converse and motivate players all played a part in the decision to hire McCall. What I would like to hear from you are the names of obvious alternatives who you think would have been more appropriate.

If I was on the Rangers board, I'd have an extensive list of names that might fit the bill.

As I'm not though, and nor would I ever wish to be, I have no interest in trawling the market for names that this board are never going to entertain.

Directors on the board should be more informed on this matter than we are, and yet clearly they are not.

I expect the board to perform to a professional standard. I don't think it has done that.
