Well done to SoS/RST/UoF and all of us who made it happen

I think Ally McCoist did more than any boycott to empty the stands

That's it! He wasn't tactically inept, he was calculatingly driving fans away to hasten the boards departure.

He's a genius after all.:fish: :fish: :fish: :fish:

It will be a shame it that's true because they have yet to have a reason to come back. Those boycotting due to the board should be back pretty swiftly. The next attendance should tell us which it is... (ie if it's a bumper crowd, it's definitely about the board and not the football as that will be the only change.)

There's obviously going to be a huge increase regardless of the reasons for boycotting as it will mark a significant occasion. For a lot of people boycotting has been a combination of both.

If everyone had renewed in the summer the board would still be in place.

DAVE King thanked the Rangers support and along with John Gilligan and Paul Murray, promised to return the club to its rightful place in Scottish football.

The trio also believe fans returning to Ibrox will give the players the boost they need to gain promotion.

King’s resolutions were successfully passed during Friday’s EGM by an overwhelming majority and he is certain the Gers faithful helped contribute to his victory.

He said: “The fans support has been phenomenal. Without the fans we wouldn’t be here today, in two aspects – firstly it really was the fans and their contribution to, if you want to call it, the boycott period and it is sad in Rangers history that it came to that.

“I think without that we wouldn’t have got to this point and in addition to that is that during the period of the requisition they purchased shares and it really was an enormous effort by them and I am incredibly grateful.

“I was pleasantly surprised by our success today because I think at the time I started the requisition I was very confident that we would succeed.

“But the magnitude of 85% was overwhelming and even above my optimistic levels.

“When I arrived, I was hoping and expecting, maybe the high 60% but 85% is absolutely magnificent.

“The fans must help the players now, I think for Rangers players to go out there and play in front of half full stadiums with everything else that has been going on around them must be, if not despairing, create an air of despondency.

“Hopefully it will pick up for the players on the field as well to get that energy that they are going to get from the fans for the rest of the season.

“Hopefully this can kick things off and they can have a really good run at trying to get promotion this season.”

Interim Chairman Paul Murray added: “I am someone who has been fighting this cause for four years.

“One of the good things to come out of the damage that has been done to the club is the fact that the fans have united in a way that I could never remember in my lifetime and I think that is great.

“Now we have this really positive energy and it is up to us as custodians of the club to harness that and use it to really drive the things forward.

“With all football clubs you get fragmented groups but everyone is behind this single cause which is amazing and you can see and almost feel the relief today.

“I actually feel quite humble and I said to John this morning outside that I had been speaking to my father and my grandfather and this whole moment has made me feel incredibly humbled.”

John Gilligan also took time to praise the Rangers faithful: “To those who led the protests and put themselves out in the public eye, there has been a lot of pressure on them in the press and they have stood tall.

“It is very important for the club going forward that these men come back.”

I see the Headlines by some slightly biased writers tomorrow. Paul Murray makes Nazi salute after EGM win.:)

And yet you refuse to retract your Mossad statement or likening people to Nazi Germany. No wonder we remain dysfunctional.

I am at a loss to understand why that post wasn't removed by Admin.

It was grossly offensive, my father and no doubt relatives of many others on here fought against the Nazi's and/or were their victims.

Not at all, we just wouldn't have the £5/10 million loan round our neck.

Stop fishing man,no need, this is a time to rejoice and finally look forward to getting Rangers back to the top of Scottish football
