Steven Pressley binned by English League One strugglers Coventry City

THE Scot’s two years in charge at the Sky Blues comes to an end today.

STEVEN PRESSLEY has today been axed as Coventry City manager.

The Sky Blues are in the English League One relegation zone – just four points off rock bottom.

They drew 2-2 with Sheffield United at home on Saturday – Elvis’ 100th in charge – but enough is enough for Rico bosses.

Chief executive Steve Waggot said in a statement this morning: “This has been a very difficult decision from a personal and professional point of view, and we would like to place on record our thanks to Steven for his efforts over the last two years.

“But results over recent weeks and months, and our precarious position in the league table, means that a change of direction at first team level is needed.

“Neil MacFarlane and Dave Hockaday have been placed in temporary charge.”

Former Rangers, Hearts and Celtic centre-half Pressley enjoyed a good start to his Coventry reign but the club has been beset by major cash problems.

He won acclaim while managing Falkirk for three years before taking charge of the Sky Blues in 2013.

Hopefully not in the running for us.
