Sos Call for national effort, read and share please

Recommended Posts

We have considered the views of many fans regarding action against Sports Direct. After to today's announcement we would be surprised if any self respecting Rangers fans spent money in his shops.

Stopping him taking others money is a priority and as such we shall be starting a series of action to do this very soon.

To hit his pocket via a series of actions nationally would not go amiss and as should be possible.

What i suggest we do is set up a national network of Sons of Struth branches to coordinate future actions and as such would request as many as possible join us and those willing to coordinate from a local level can contact us to offer their services.

As usual any action from SoS will be legal and non threatening to any staff or customers

I think one of the more interesting ideas is to demonstrate outside/block Sports Direct main headquarters and distribution in Mansfield (just off the M1 near Derby/Sheffield).

On the day of the UEFA Cup Final, hundreds of bears travelled down to Manchester in their cars in one co-ordinated effort. Imagine if we did the same to Mansfield.

We could even make a night of it by asking a local RSC/hotel to provide some entertainment and rooms so tired and emotional bears can stay overnight and make a wee holiday out of it!

There are other possible avenues that could be explored in an attempt to widen any action, off the top of my head............

1. Are there any similar likeminded Newcastle Utd groups ?

2. ex- USC employees

3. Protesters re. Zero hours contracts.

4. General potential protest groups who dislike the style of corporatism employed by Ashley.

5. Attempt to carry momentum and focus general social/economic discontent on SD/MA.

Another idea from FF:

Health and Safety in Sports Direct shops

I find myself very perturbed at the density of the displays in my local Sports Direct shop and the lack of access for customers and staff. Some of the exit routes are blocked by buggies and prams , others by shoe boxes.

I fear what would happen if a fire started in a crowded shop.

I have therefore contacted my local government department responsible for health and safety in shops and asked them to do a review of the shop in the interests of public safety.

I wonder if my misgivings are shared on here.

IMO I think any peaceful protests need to put into question the wider Ashley MO as being representative of much of what many think is wrong with UKPLC aswell as potential and more direct effects to the SD turnover.

There is a window prior to the parlimentary questions that Ashley may have to face, always taking into account that we are in an election year.

I watched a film last night with With Jean-Claude Van Damme, No where to run. It was about a woman trying to hold on to her property with a corrupt company owner doing everything to get her land.

I couldn't help thinking of our situation and how it is almost the same story. I only hope we can produce a JCvD.

MIKE ASHLEY has been a long-time hate figure of Newcastle United fans who have accused him of lacking ambition and the club’s supporters began their fight two years ago.

The Time 4 Change group (Coincidence?)was set up and saw hundreds of fans parade through the streets past St James’ Park before a home clash with Liverpool in 2013.

Ashley has had an uneasy relationship with the Magpies fans for much of his time at the helm and it stems from his decision to rename the stadium the Sports Direct Arena after his retail empire, a controversial sponsorship with payday loans company Wonga as well as the appointment of Joe Kinnear as director of football.

But Ashley has shown he won’t be influenced by fans which included sticking by manager Alan Pardew when the supporters turned their anger on him and launched a campaign for him to be sacked. The Buckingham-born billionaire refused to give in before Pardew eventually left for Crystal Palace this season.

Thank's Pete !

I tried to contact a Newcastle fan a few months ago from a contact address in a fanzine of some kind (IIRC 'The Mag') but didn't get a reply. I'll look to try a bit harder this time.

As for the username, it may well have come from the Newcastle reference but my memory couldn't swear on it.

In fact, when I think about it....it was back at the end of 2012 when I first tried to get info from Newcastle messageboards and there is a thread on the subject from that time on FF.
