Maybe someone could ask Amy MacDonald too ...

Was thinking that very same thing myself. A wee song about the stadium being a legacy in memory of the 66, and how we will defend it at all costs, would be very welcome while she is at it.

PAUL Murray has waded into the war for control of Rangers and insisted Mike Ashley will never win the trust of Rangers fans.

Former director Murray broke cover for the first time since it was revealed on Friday that Dave King wants him reappointed to the board as part of his proposed egm coup.

Murray released a statement yesterday lunchtime in which he revealed he had taken lifetime memberships with two fans’ groups – the Rangers Supporters Trust and Rangers First – and urged the supporters to unite behind his bid to drive the current regime out of the crisis-hit club.

Later, in an exclusive interview with Record Sport, Murray stressed Sports Direct boss Ashley has already lost the battle for the hearts and minds of the fans.

Murray said: “Mike Ashley is a hugely wealthy man and, yes, it is clear our club needs money.

“But as critical as the finances appear to be, money is no longer the priority concern for supporters.

“First and foremost it’s about trust.

“Quite simply the Rangers fans do not trust him and without their backing he cannot move the club forward.

“They realise there are better options – wealthy Rangers fans whose only aim is to do the right thing for their club.

“Even if Bill Gates turned up at Ibrox tomorrow the supporters would quite naturally be suspicious. They don’t need the world’s wealthiest man. All they need is to know their club is back in safe hands.

“The message I keep hearing from the fans towards the current board is simple and it’s growing louder and louder every day: Get out of our club.

“Well this is that moment. We have had four years of some of the worst behaviour that the club has seen in a long time.

“This is the chance to change it. It’s not a futile effort, this is our chance but you have to engage in the debate.”

Yesterday morning the club announced that one of the men Murray wants removed from the Ibrox boardroom, director Sandy Easdale, had snapped up more than one million shares.

However, the trade has not increased his 19.6 percentage of voting rights – indicating that this latest deal was done from within his existing proxy group.

Where has he ever said he wants to win our hearts? Stupid journalism at it's best.
