SteveC 150
scared to tell you the rumours about Durie and jig being new first team coaches and durrant going back to under 20's...... think it might be enough to tip me over the edge. You were being a good bear and trying to keep my head above water. However, the waves crashing down upon us were too big.
Waltersgotstyle 307
Hahha - does he though? If he does, I'll give you that and save you going for the desperate, last ditch "at least you're not a Tim" line, Yes he does - but I've seen nothing recently that suggests that he can manage a first team.
ian1964 10,777
A chasm has opened up between the fans and blazers that could rip our club apart. by JonathanMcFarlane JONNY says that the appointment of Kenny McDowall shows how much trouble Rangers are in and how the board does not understand the supporters. IF there was ever a perfect distillation of the crushing incompetence of the Rangers board then it’s surely the appointment of Kenny McDowall. Were anyone in doubt about how deep the financial void at the club runs then they need look no further, as here is proof positive we have sailed into exceedingly stormy waters. Perhaps naively I have laboured under the misapprehension that Mike Ashley must have some master-plan for the club that will see his investment ‘sweated’ for maximum return. I assumed that this would require the installation of a forward thinking and efficient manager to galvanize the football department. Clearly a misjudgement has been made on my part for this appointment runs in tandem with the short termism that has defined the last few years. Here is a man who has been alongside Ally McCoist every step of the way as they delivered a hopelessly unbalanced squad with a dearth of attacking flair. McDowall was always lauded as an exceptional coach, even in his Celtic days, but there has been damning evidence to the contrary in the years since the guiding hand of Walter Smith was removed from this equation. To watch Rangers over the last 4 years has been to witness an utterly disorganised and at times incoherent mess. Where is the evidence of in depth set-piece work on the training ground? Or of drills on attacking shape? Why have Rangers defended corners with 11 men behind the ball? These are but 3 areas amongst many that have baffled supporters during the McCoist/McDowall era. With no managerial experience to speak of and the aforementioned dubious record as assistant, McDowall must rank as one of the most lacklustre appointments imaginable. Only Terry Butcher would have been worse as any Hibs fan will tell you (if you can make sense of the wailing that follows the mere mention of his name). Analysing the boards reasoning gets you reassessing the potential end game in all of this. What do the board want for this club? It seems to me that a chasm has opened up between the supporters and the blazers that has the potential to rip this club apart for a generation. The lack of trust that has developed after three years of broken promises and disappointments has left a wound that lies festering. Without urgent attention I fear an amputation may be the inevitable and irretrievable consequence of a board that lacks the capability to effectively communicate decision making to the people that have the power to drag the club out of its current malaise; the fans. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/opinion/sport/record-fc-rangers-chasm-opened-4866840?

Ser Barristan Selmy 222
Yes he does - but I've seen nothing recently that suggests that he can manage a first team. I haven't seen any evidence of his youth development talents whilst with us.
SteveC 150
McDowall's first match in charge will come against Hibernian this Saturday but he knows defeat will all but kill-off their automatic promotion hopes. However, he warned fans not to expect sweeping changes when he names his line-up for the Easter Road clash. He said: "There's not a whole load I can change because everything Ally was doing was with my backing. "The players appreciate that they have got to do a bit betteron the park in terms of consistency. But these guys are good players. They don't just become bad players overnight. "Because they are Rangers players, everything is scrutinised - every last pass. But they know they need to keep their standards high." http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/ranger...on.1419356618? Jeezus. How depressing is that?
